Wouldn't it be cool if we could if we could create our own giveaway bundles? I would love to pick 4 random games and roll them into one giveaway and give it away to one lucky winner. Outside of multi-game bundles, there's some other good uses for this functionality. One recent example would be if you could giveaway Seciton8:Prejudice and the content packs together since the inventory items from the buy four pack includes both the game and content pack. People who are giving away extra copies from that pack are not getting credit for the content packs.

Thoughts? Do you agree or disagree?

That would be kind of nifty. I can see having all kinds of fun with that. :)

It could be used creatively, so I support the idea, it could be fun. Might have an issue with people already having parts of the bundle and trying to regift its parts on steamgifts, but then again, that's a problem that already exists with the current bundles available.

Could be nice to give away games and their DLC at the same time. I support this.

Or just giveaway each game one by one so we have more happy winners

More giveaways is awesome, but bundles of games is cool too. I could totally see giving away Fortix + SotMC, at least. ;)

Maybe even a "Best of Lego" bundle or "Best of Batman" for whatever the gifter thinks is "best".

OR, just allow users greater freedom in their gifting.

Would these follow regular giveaway rules or private/contributor giveaways? If the creator is able to request a reroll due to any of the games being owned from their bundle, then we've just created even more support tickets which is the opposite of what CG is trying to accomplish. If they didn't request a reroll then the used games would probably just be regifted. What if I made a bundle for 2 bundle games and 2 non bundle games, delivered the 2 non bundle and didn't deliver the 2 bundle games, do I get half my points or none of them?

Neat idea, but I think it would hurt the site more than anything at this time.

Same banhammer for gifting only partial bundles as it would be for not gifting those in separate giveaways.

Then that goes back to the other point that we're trying to prevent tickets going to support, not create more.

If they did 4 giveaways, only gave 2 of those games, that'd be 2 tickets. 1 bundle, 1 support ticket.

Someone who is likely to regift from a "bundle" is also probably gunna regift a single gift. Thus, you actually would have the same number of tickets. Either way, the regifter needs a ban anyway.

The simplest solution would be to not allow people with ANY items in the bundle to enter. That's not ideal, but it wouldn't be a bad option. Seccondly, I don't think bundle points would be a factor here. The system could still treat the bundle of games as individual games and apply the existing rules to each game. I don't see why this would be too different from doing two seperate giveaways and just linking them together. Points would be calculated seperately, but eligibility would be calculated together (do you own one of the games, are you in a group, have you met the number of contributor points, etc).

Maybe, for You and few more people, but just check wishlist and look at top 1, it's Skyrim. And if game is boring , that's why you have skyrim.nexusmods.com or Skyrim workshop to make game better a lot.

One of the better ideas. Allow users to use already available options like contributor totals/ groups/ etc and there isnt really any down side to this additional option.

While you do have the problem of dealing with potential regifters, other then that its a good idea.

One downside though, I could see people getting something like Borderlands GOTY and making a bundle with the base game + individual DLC packs in order to inflate the contributor total.

Point cost should follow already created rules, IE two games the cost 10 points alone would cost 20 combine.
An option to disallow users to enter if they own either or both of the games would be rather handy, limiting any "extra" tickets from being created. Already have a function to scan our libraries, this would just be an addition to that.

Example:
I make a giveaway for-
Skyrim
Sotmc
TF2
HL3
Warhammer Platinum

I mark Skyrim AND HL3 as games entrants can NOT already own. If they do then they cant enter.
OR I mark it as either/or so if they own either then they cant enter. As opposed to if they own both.

Pretty much this. Also another thing to consider: how would you be able to see what games are in it from the main page?

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I think it should be something like a minus 10%/$1 (whichever is greater) contrib/point value. So a bundle with 3 $20 games would be worth $54/54 points.

As long as you can give them away for a fraction of the total cost. This can be abused badly by the wrong people.

That would be fine by me. Since, for example, if you gift the Patricians and Merchants bundle, you already only get $9.99 credit but if you were to give them (at least two of the games) away separate, it'd be $14.98.

Interesting idea, but I personally dislike it. I can't say it's a bad idea necessarily, but I really dislike the possibility of a bundle containing CS:GO, Railworks, Fortix, Skyrim, and Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble. People would enter that for the games they wanted and then just be peeved that they also had to activate the others games just to follow the rules.

Summary of my problem with the idea: More games will be wasted on people who do not want them.
