After winning a giveaway or having someone else win your giveaway; There is that awkward moment where you have them on your friends list and your not sure how to go about removing them. Maybe wait 24 hours and then remove? Remove them the second they go offline? It is of course not that you dislike them, just the fact that you don't really know them but also don't want to rush deleting them- as to not appear rude. And I'm not sure when this started but sending games thru email automatically adds the recipients to your friends list. -_- .

Watch this if this post has been a waste of your precious time.

O_o... If I like their username or avatar I usually keep them on the buddy list. If not I delete them straight away :X

I just delete them. Although if we have a nice conversation or if they provide me sexual favors, then I keep them on my friends list.

Chat box, litter box. They're all the same.

I go through it every time I win/gave away, and even when I am trading. I am OCD about my friends lists so its much harder for me lol D:

if I don't know him I just remove him after I got the giveaway, same as when I add someone as a friend to give him a game, when I'm done, he's gone from my friend list.

I need to start doing this. One guy wouldn't stop begging me for more freebies (including Magicka when it was on sale for £2). Apparently he couldn't afford it.

The worst thing is when friends that you have played with for a long time suddenly beg for a game. It's horrible.

Yeah, it's happened to me too. I always feel so mean when I remove people from my list. .__.

So it wouldn't be rude to just remove them straight away? Seems a little harsh lol. Guess I'm OCD too or something.

It's not uncommon to say 'goodbye' and delete them after gifting/trading.
No need to feel bad or awkward about it.

I don't delete them. Sometimes we talk for fun, or we just feel like there's some sort of friendship between us.

Built on money? Nah, they're just cool guys, that's all. They don't ask for stuff.

I just kept them in my friends list as I saw no reason to remove them, but if you're not intending to keep them then I'd say it's probably best to just remove them right away. Less awkward for both that way.

Is this how people end up with Steam's maximum friend capacity? They just can't say no to anyone hahaha.

I keep people in my list, even people from TF2 trades.

They get removed if they beg for something or start trading/offering stuff out of the blue.

Sometimes I delete people if they have been offline for more than 20+ days and if they're not really friends that I play with.

I'll watch that kitty and EAT it!

...Hmm. Somehow, I feel like I said something wrong...

I don't see the problem with deleting them. I have not done it yet, but that is because it doesn't really matter to me if they are on my list or not. The only time I deleted someone, it was a guy who kept pushing to trade (when I basically told him I had not worth to make a trade and did not want anything) and at a later date begged for stuff. he was still likable, but when I saw he hadn't been on for some time, I decided to delete him. He felt too much as leecher.

I don't delete them. Who knows, maybe one of them will remember me sometime and ask us to play co-op or something... even though I always suggest that, it hasn't happened yet though.

I usually delete them if we don't have anything to talk about.

I keep 'em on my friends list so I can at least have somewhat of a chance of getting to know them, and perhaps play a game with them later on. :) I'll only remove people if they're being assholes or begging for things. Though thankfully I've yet to deal with that sort of thing too much!

Of course on the other end of things, I don't mind of someone keeps me on their friends list or removes me after I get a game from them or gift them one, even if they choose to defriend me just a few seconds after the gift or trade had been sent out. I understand the reasons someone would want to do things either way. :p

I keep them for weeks/months till i do a cleanup (which is usually once every 3 months), people that i don't remember or never hear get deleted.

I usually remove people from SteamGifts / SteamTrades right away, I mean they probably don't expect or even want to remain in your friend list if you are never going to speak to them again.

I remove them straight away when they activate the gift, I just say don't forget to mark it as received and then say enjoy your gift and then delete them. It's not rude it's just something most traders do and since I nearly have a full friendlist
