I don't think a 29UM56 exists. Are you talking about the 29UM65? If so, it is not 2K, it is 1080P ultrawide (2560x1080). It also only supports 60hz. From what I have read, people that have tried overclocking it have trouble getting it to 65hz.

Correct. But on the productor page it says it can go up to 75?

I have a hard time find a refresh rate on websites for it, but I did see one selling it that said 60hz. If you look up LG product support, you can download the user manual for the 29UM65 and it says the maximum resolution is 2560x1080@60hz. It should be able to do 75hz at 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1152x864, and 1280x1024, but those are all lower resolutions in 4x3 aspect ratio.

I moved discussion to off-topic, as bugs category is for SG-related bugs.

I have 3440x1440 @100Hz on my Asus XG35VQ monitor. Its DP 1.2 according to the specs.

^^ This. Try to connect via Displayport. It usually fixes my problems. Otherwise, try to find the HDMI version both your monitor and 970 support. Spec table is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Refresh_frequency_limits_for_standard_video
If you need more help, please give a link to the page of your monitor somewhere here: https://www.lg.com/us/monitors

I tried with display port but it doesn't seem to work. I saw that 75Hz is available only on 1280x720 so I guess for higher resolution is not available at all?
Also I think it's a model distributed only in my region.

Try to install the driver to enable 75Hz.

Maybe the suggestion from orono, but I (usually) don't have to install monitor drivers manually.
Please provide a link that confirms your monitor is (unofficially?) capable of displaying 2560x1080@75Hz.
Last resort. Very much at your own risk! You could create a custom resolution. Use native res. Set refresh to 75Hz.

I repeat: At your own risk!

Hello everyone :)
I own an LG 29UM65-W and a nVidia Geforce 970 which both support 2K resolution with 90 Hz refresh rate. I had them connected with an HDMI cable and was wondering why it worked at only 60Hz. I read on internet that in order to go to faster refresh rates you needed a display port cable, so I bought one but I still find only the 60Hz option on the monitor resolution panel.
Is there anything i missed?
