So... I've just heard of SCP yesterday, and I had to jump on the occasion to be the one to tell the world about it. Don't mind the fact that I'm pretty sure everybody here will end up telling me they already knew about it.

What is SCP then? It's a Foundation. The name stands for Secure, Contain, Protect. A tree cloning anything that touches it? They've got it secured, and y'ain't getting close. A little girl crying tears that heal anything? If she exists, they'll find her, put her in a cell, and study her.

The Foundation has been at work for hundreds of years, and lo and behold, their edited logs are now accessible to the general public! Go here to begin the read!. You'll also be interested in following the very first links of this page that will tell you more about SCP - who exactly are D-class personnel you hear of in every log, for example.

The fun doesn't end here though. SCP-087 has left an impression on several civilians, who were then compelled to make a video game about it. No word on lasting effects, but you can watch a playthrough here (make sure to read the SCP first, or you won't get it).

It's crazy what these guys can find. There's so many good logs on there.

lol, well I'd probably be upset if it actually said SCP in the title, but there's no way you could've known that was there even with the search feature, without reading 3 weeks of old threads. And that thread was mostly about the game anyways.

I wanted to make a thing like the SCP foundation is real (thus when you read the original post, it can be read both ways - fan fiction, and original logs) but now some meddlin' kids gotta spoil my fun D:

I found that site a little while back. I like it pretty well. I have one huge complaint, though. The top-voted entry is a blatant ripoff from Doctor Who. With all the other very excellent entries on the site, it absolutely sickens me that shameless plagiarism is more highly praised and rewarded than all of them.

Would it be SCP-X73 (replace X by a number- 1 I think), which acts like a Weeping Angel? I've done some research and apparently this is the very first SCP ever written. Some go as far back as 2004, so I'm guessing it was actually this one that came first.

On a related subject though any SCP would make an awesome Doctor Who episode.

173, correct. As far as I know, everything else there is original. I took a look at some of the discussion pages and saw people fawning over it and referring to it in terms like "perfect" and "sacrosanct" and it really rubbed me the wrong way. I try not to let it dampen my enjoyment of the rest, though.

I thought 87-B was scarier, more stuff happening, but the original is creepy as anything.

This game, while cool, has recently been announced to have one of the most popular versions be quite virus laden. There are quite a few legit non virus versions. I have a couple of them. But be warned, some of the people involved with the making of these games have been warning around on steamgroups to be very careful where they get their content.

Double check everything folks.

The wiki linked above warns of the virus-infested releases... haven't been able to find a release on their website though.
