Hey everyone! Long ago (in a galaxy far away), I started a discussion where I decided to watch all of the Star Wars films for the first time. It took a while but I finally finished! I updated that thread, but still started this new one so that the giveaways don't get buried in all the text. It was a crazy amount of fun and I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you guys tagging along and making it an enjoyable experience.

You can find those reviews HERE. Including Rise of the Skywalker, which I just finished watching.

As a thank you for putting up with that post in your discussion for so long, here is a train of 63 giveways. They are all level 3.

TRAIN

Here is my final (and most likely controversial) list of favorite to least favorite Star Wars films based on my first watch!

  1. Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
  2. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
  3. Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi
  4. Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope
  5. Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
  6. Episode I: The Phantom Menace
  7. Star Wars: The Last Jedi
  8. Star Wars: The Force Awakens
  9. Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
  10. Solo: A Star Wars Story
  11. Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker

Thanks again and I hope everyone has a great week!

Congrats on getting through. Though, I disagree a teeny-tiny bit with your list and think ROne should be #1.

When I watched the first 3 starwars movies on vhs back in the 80s or maybe early 90s I decided they were okay but not great. So I've watched all others but never really let all the hype sweep me up. And I feel it's much easier to watch the worse ones if you don't have great expectations ;-)

Thanks for the train and congrats on making it through :)

Thanks! Yeah I never felt that excitement that fans who enjoyed it growing up would have felt. I just enjoyed seeing it unfold and finally being clued into all the things I was missing. The bad ones didn't dissapoint as much because I wasn't waiting for them in anticipation

That was definitely a train. Thank you so much!

And for Star Wars, the first one I saw was the IV after a SW fan forced me. I wanted to see the I first since it's, you know, the first one :P

I do! I've seen and enjoyed the first two seasons of The Mandalorian. I still have to finish that and start on Andor because I've heard great things!

Just in case you're not aware, remember to watch Book of Boba Fett before Mandalorian season 3.
Book of Boba Fett is sort of also Mandalorian season 2.5. Enjoy the tv shows!!

Loved reading your reviews as you went!

My top movies are similar, although I would put ANH and Revenge of the Sith before RotJ personally!
But then I find ANH so easy to rewatch without feeling the need to watch the whole series.

Rise of Skywalker was so boring and definitely didn't have any meaningful impact. Reading your review I even forgot Han and Chewie were in that movie, I've blocked it from my memory. I also was really hoping Rey would go evil in Last Jedi, so having Palpatine as the big bad in Rise was so lackluster. What a waste of potential. They really needed a plan for the trilogy, and to play it less 'safe'.

I watched Andor recently and that was great - hoping for more movie series that are more along the lines of this and Rogue One.
Maybe a dark Old Republic series.. :)

Yeah it was difficult to rank! ANH was hard for me to get into at first and I was just having a blast by the time ROTJ came around. I wonder if my ranking would change on rewatch!

I 100% agree with your take on Rise of the Skywalker. They played it so safe that it became easily forgettable.

I plan on starting Andor soon! I really enjoyed Rogue One so I'm excited to give it a try!

Maybe - some are more re-watcheable than others. I always found the training montage with Yoda in Empire tedious, but loved the rest.I just find ANH a lot easier to re-watch from beginning to end each time. I also like re-watching Revenge.

Rise was so generic, and obvious that they had no plan... I remember sitting in the theater watching it and the disbelief I had when Palpatine 'somehow returned'... hahaha. It felt like a comedy - which is mostly all I remember from it.

As you ranked Rogue One high, I think you will like Andor!
It's kind of like a spy series, but Star Wars. A bit grittier, and a slower pace in the first couple of episodes.

My uncle was a reporter when Star Wars released and he was able to bring my mom and I to check out the very first screening (tmk) at the Hollywood Mann's Chinese theater. I was like five years old lol. So in a real way, Star Wars has been part of my life for getting close to fifty years.
