Are those same chesta as those sticker cases that were during CSGO last-big-tournament, where you bought them in shop for price-of-key at first, then they dropped in price, to disappear after big tournament?

This ones

No they are not. These were tournament items, and if you watched it in CSGOTV/were there you got one. The new Dota chesta can not drop, but only be bought from the Dota store. Also they contain full sets instead of single items. As I said above, valve is just experimenting. With this model for example they cant contain single-item submissions from the workshop.

Those were dropped during matches.

The one I talked about earlier, they weren't droppables, only buyable from CSGO (or market :) ). So I guess same thing as the ones in DOTA now, just with stickers for guns, not item-sets.

TI4 Compendium came out. I immediately bought one. People get rid of their keys for cash to buy them too.

Valve already said they are just trying out stuff, maybe they will return to the old model. I don't think they do it in TF2 or CSGO in the next time.

i don't think so .. because "TI4 Compendium" was being advertised to sometime now
so i knew it was going to happen
but if they do this to Tf2 .. i think steam will end its trading system by itself

Doto keys on market
TI4 Compendium
Also you can search for immortals on the market since they drop with high levels too. Prices are already dropping like a hot potato.

Keys often drop when people want to free up their items and turn them back into Wallet funds quickly. You see it happen during big sales or really good daily/weekend sales.

Right now, Bioshock Infinite, Darksiders 2 and Dragon Age are all on sale; add to that the fact that the DOTA 2 T14 Compendium just came out means people are rushing to sell off key stocks ASAP.

When this event is over, will thy go back to their normal price? Probably nobody knows the answer, but what do you think?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Might take a while for prices to recover if all the buyers are traders looking to re-sell high. Before this, the lowest they ever went was $1.95~ during last year's Summer Sale, but they recovered fine from that.

Yes, but people are saying that keys are useless now. I don't know if it's true or not.

Permalink

There's still plenty of old chests that need keys so they aren't useless, but I can't say I'm not a little worried.

happy, i traded my last 11 dota keys yesterday for tf2 keys. ^^

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

What if TF2 keys drop in price, too? :)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

They might take a dip, but not much. Most people selling their keys are DOTA players who want to buy the T14 Compendium so it makes sense they have DOTA keys to sell off rather than TF2.

There might be some crossover, but people who are big into TF2 and have a lot of TF2 Keys likely don't care about DOTA or the T14.

I think that people are trying to sell their keys urgently to buy the new compendium. So the price is getting lower and lower

Probably it will be back to normal soon

Use em for trading instead of selling. That's the only reason I even have DOTA/TF2 keys.

I do that.I never sell those on the marketplace. But even russian traders have stopped accepting Dota 2 keys.

valve released 'chests' that dont require key to be opened.
And those are much higher quality than those opened by keys.

some people trade dota2 keys for less tf2 keys (1,5:1)...i think it could be a good investment

I was thinking of doing the same.Exchanging some of my ToDs for keys. But i think u should w8 till they have reached fixed price.

Great, I got 40 dota 2 old keys last October, and they suddenly became untradable and unmarketable overnight, with no sign and warning, and until now. I've watched the price went all the way down, and finally reach this point.

Valve did it several times already.
For example crafting updated changed market prices globally, events with items droping/crafting also cause huge price fluctuations.

Comment has been collapsed.

When they hit 3 cents each, I'm gonna buy a bunch of them in case Valve brings the old system back :D

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

First and main reason - taking money to get and level up compendium.
Second one - 4 recent chests are opening without a key + 2 more opening with non-standart keys, so nobody (except Valve) really knows would you need this keys in future or they are for old chests only.
