Last post was lame now thank you for your comments.

I guess a simple sorting by steam review could be really cool.

Thank you peeps! <3

Thanks! You could reverse the search and also search for like less than X % too maybe :D

Too bad, is he looking for help?

Even if "he" was looking for help, I dont think "he" would accept help from a guy whose steam username is I trusted that fart and has a private profile.. just saying

Haha wow you're a nice guy! ... Anyways... Anyone could help, lots of good programmers here i bet, but was wondering if the dev is actively looking for help.

You shouldn't be hogging all the standard go-to replies. Be responsible, think of the other million posters who now have to make up their own?

If not search, the question is how big of a load would be to display the current Steam user rating on the main page.

Almost negligible if you cache the reviews in a database. Then you simply add that to the query before presenting the page view.

I imagine u would use the steam API to grab the reviews. So the first hit is a tiny bit slow... the next hit is super fast as you've cached it. After 5 days or so you would retrieve it again, taking a tiny hit

Yeah, I'm wondering about the first hit, honestly. Steam API is quite infamous of how much it can load a site when it tries to access some information through it.

I guess if its too much on first hit, just cache it before displaying a view in a queue or something.

What he said, but to put it in perspective: Reviews score caching requires 2 things, AppID and review score. AppID is a 4-byte unsigned integer, review score is 1 byte. A floppy disk could hold reviews for approximately 300,000 Steam games.

If the column was appended to whatever table holds the cached price/points value, then the total additional memory used would be even less.

No, just tired of people looking for "easy mode."

If you can't be bothered to put a little time into figuring out what games you really want, why should the site do it for you? ;)
There's already a wishlist filter.

Seem to be more and more threads popping up saying "I want the site to make my life easier!"

Well I love discovering new games, and it would save me a bit of time ... i tend to look at many games at a time.

Sorry for bugging you guys!

You realize you can enter into a giveaway's page, click on the game's banner, and it will take you right to the Steam store page for that game, right?

No need to import all that info (and bog down the server with it, since it would need updating constantly) when you can click twice and arrive at the Steam page for that game.

Yup that's what I do :)

Ok... I won't ask for this feature again... a lot of hostility.. justa small thing to help some people.

Peace everyone!

There was no hostility from anyone as far as I can tell.

Just because people don't agree with and/or like what you've suggested doesn't necessarily make them "hostile." It means just that - they don't like it or agree with it. To a lot of people your suggestion will appear to be an instant "let me win better games" button.

It's not hostility, especially not against you.
It's just after a while you get fed up of people requesting features to make their life easier because they can't be bothered to make some effort themselves.

this site isn't an online shop, there's no need to sort/filter giveaways.

the steam store has a wishlist/follow feature, you can filter giveaways with this menu.

Thanks for the answer. Yeah I have that... its cool, but I also love the discovery of new games, and I like to see the review, tags, and other info to see if I like it (like if its local coop, etc).

Ok to clarify, this site gives me a SERIOUS incentive to spend time learning about new games... though it could be streamlined if i could avoid some of the sub 50% review type games. I love this site!!!!!!!!!!

You're not supposed to make QoL suggestions, they're not welcome. Code your own script or something. Hardcore? make your own SteamGifts clone. From scratch. On a TI-99A programmable calculator.

Only then you'll be allowed.
