The last time this game went on sale, was almost 2 years ago. Grab it now before it's too late!

Also I have a question. Do you have a game, you are desperately waiting to go on sale, but it doesn't seem to give itself up?

I was waiting forever for Saira to go on sale, then it was given away for free. Pretty awesome.

I've owned this game three times over (PC, PS2, and DS) for many years. It's great, highly recommended.

Also, I wonder, why is everybody so excited over a discount for a match-3 game???

Never really heard of it it seems. Noticed it around, but it looked liked any other generic match-3 game to me. So you say it's something special?

While I don't care for Match 3 on its own, either, I actually enjoy the extended genre, as it relates to post-Puzzle-Quest variations of the genre style. Some creative things out there, and PQ really helped establish the appeal of such reinterpretations of the Match-3 formula.

That said, I found the original PQ to be exceptionally shallow and repetitive, massively grindy, terribly balanced, etc. It was fun for what it had, but what it had wasn't much at all, and it was drug out to mindnumbing length. Rather, it's a game that stood out more for being a new spin on an old flavor, rather than for being inherently good, at least to every consideration I attempted to give it.
Put in more simple terms, it was primarily a generic Match 3 game with some added flavor and mechanics, rather than primarily being a rich game that happened to use Match 3 mechanics. So for Match 3 enthusiasts, it was probably a significant evolution of gameplay depth. From an RPG/Strategy/Tactics/Sim/Management/etc player perspective, it was still remarkably weak in depth in every category.

As I said, many of the later games deeply polished the formula that PQ only provided the framework to, or even just on the lower end of the spectrum, simply provided more compelling twists to the originally rather bland gameplay. If you enjoy casual RPG experiences and don't hate Match 3 outright, the genre is certainly worth looking into. But the original PQ? Given that it has so many better spiritual AND direct sequels, I can pretty firmly recommend you away from it, outside of the usual subjective preference considerations, just as by this point it's arguably inherently inferior at an objective level [due to being dated].

Of the top of my head, some of the key games to look at:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/47540
http://store.steampowered.com/app/61700/
http://store.steampowered.com/app/464470/

To summarize, if your sentiments toward standard match 3 games is similar to mine- ie, "don't hate it, but don't like it"- then all other considerations aside, you should probably avoid PQ due to its leaning too much to the generic Match 3 end of things, but you should definitely explore its derivatives. :)

Yeah, that surprised me- I hadn't seen any discount on it at all before then, and bam, 90% off. I made sure to nab a copy quick at that point. :D
I think they might be taking a "favorable discount for early purchasers" approach, though, so not sure if they'll hit that low a discount again any time soon. :X

Thanks for this, Sooth: Iwas on the fence when Movac explained his love for the game to me, but seeing I already own two of the games you pointed out I'm gonna play those instead. Massive backlog decided: enough to play already.

There are several which I like to keep an eye on which just never wants to go on sale (or have a bigger discount), but right now I cannot think of any. Fail. :P

But this winter sale I finally bought Nancy Drew Collector Pack! I should have bought it when it went cheap at winter 2014 before they introduced the 100% region lock. I just wanted to wait till next sale since I thought the discount would be higher and combined with the Russian price to save as much as possible. But eh, jokes on me.. Region lock appeared. ;-;
But I finally managed to buy it this winter sale! But again, jokes on me because they've released countless of Nancy Drew games since January, so my collection isn't so complete anymore lol.

Also sometimes it's dangerous to wait. I remember I was waiting for Barbie Dreamhouse to go for more than 50% off, and bam it got removed almost a year ago! Same with other games like PowerPuff Girls etc.

I'm also interested in Nancy Drew Pack, but it's expensive, even with discount. Humble Bundle is my only hope! :(

Indeed.. I sooo regret not buying that in 2014.. I mean 70% off... PLUS another 60% off because of Russian price.. Sigh! Oh well, I couldn't have predicted the future.. :) I hope it won't get in a HB bundle. :P But I'm only saying that because I bought the package couple months ago xD

Waiting for Puzzle Quest 2 to go on sale...

Everyone spoke so well of Puzzle Quest that I bought it. I don't even play games like it. This is a sickness...

As for me, I just put everything on my wishlist and hope I notice when it goes cheap. It is rare that I want anything enough to be bothered to watch closely. I don't mind being years behind, sometimes I even find it a bit comforting for some weird reason.

That said, the closest I ever came was Ducktales Remastered. I kept putting it off to the point that when I did finally get it at a price I liked, I had lost all interest in playing it. Did I mention the sickness?

I love match-3 games, and played the "non-legit" version a lot when it was released back in the day...

Ever since I became adept of Steam, I bought all their other "Puzzle" games as well (except Puzzle Chronicles, which I actually won here), and waited patiently for another sequel/spin-off...

Until Gems of War came out. I'd recommend it for any Puzzle Quest fan, its quite similar at some extent, but it's online only, and also has mobile versions. The main problem is the excessive grind, present in any modern Free 2 Play game, but it's cool as well.

Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock has got only the usual 10 % discount at release (Nov. 2012), never again since that. I've bought it two times now, since I was able to get Steam wallet with 25 % discount a week ago.
