How does Steam Pre-ordering work?

I'm Pre-Ordering Call of Duty: Ghosts pretty soon and I wanted to know, when you pre order, does it download inmediatly and it just downloads the launcher when it's out? Or does it appear in my library and just say like ''Available (date)'' or what?

It appears in your library, but you can't download it (it looks just like an unnistalled game). A few days before launch you can pre-load it. I just did it with Rome II.

Me jelly.

I got Fall of The Samurai months before it came out. I was hoping there was a pre-load..... NOPE. Glad they did it for Rome II. The Total War games are HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE.

It's only a 9.9 gigs of preload. Which is rather surprising.

If it doesn't have a region lock you might want to trade for it. Pre-orders are always expensive.

buy game> appears in library> Wait to pre-load usually a couple of days before release> Play :)
