Every time you're trying to log in on new device you have to enter code form your e-mail. This should be enought to prevent item stealing for me. But nope, steam knows all users are dump and leave their steam and e-mail password everywhere.

Add "Remember this device" (or at least something like that) and forget about Steam Guard...

Except it doesn't work for me at least. D:

I would never have it on if not for its requirement to conduct Steam trades and market transactions.

yeah im annoyed by that too :/ i wish we could just click somewhere in the client to allow a new login/pc for that reason! Avoiding that problem!

I wish we could have someone standing over each person in the trade with an axe, ready to chop off something valuable should anyone try to cheat the other, but I guess I'll have to settle for SteamGuard in the meantime.

Dude, people throw around lol's on the internet like candy but I seriously had a good 10-15 second lol moment with your comment there. Thanks for that :).
Haven't yet reached roflmao territory ever but maybe one day I can cross that off my bucket list too.

Just read it again, the image I get in my head reading it is priceless and had another hearty chuckle with it.

Why I never get this kind of things?! Am I doing something right!? or maybe wrong!?
Anyway you better get a trading-market ban rather than your Steam account stolen. You never know when is your time.

Well I haven't any problems with SteamGuard and the security of your account is very very important because (even if you can't see it) it contains billing and other Paypal-like account data that might be hacked if the security is breached. This being said, I appreciate Steam's safety.

I don't understand why you would get some sort of ban?? I've logged in to my account from multiple machines many times and have never had a problem.

A new feature was implemented that prevents trading on the account from the new device for 7 days. I heard that adding new payment methods does funky thing as well.

I see. To be quite honest I think that is smart. If someone hacks your e-mail it would be quite easy to hijack your Steam account. That just seems like an extra security precaution that is sensible on a device that has just become newly authorized.

It's not a matter of doing something right or wrong. It's just overprotection. If you will be out of town and you want to do few trades on market in your free time you can't because steam knows better how protection should work.

You can, you just need to have a way to check your email, enter the code and you're good to go.
I don't get though how people get themselves banned...

Act preventively, install and log into steam in your 2nd PC before you need it. I have steam installed in my netbook, not for gaming(obviously, it can run just a few games) but for trading if needed.

Oh yes, I can't sell using my browser now until 17 February, need to use the Steam app, Steam says I logged from a new device, which is not true, I logged from same browser as I always do, I just had problems Steam saying I cannot sell cuz I haven't cookies enabled, which is not true too so to resolve it I decided delete my cookies, before it helped, but now it made Steam think I'm using new device or browser.

That shouldn't happen, when clearing your history and cookies etc. or even when you completely reinstall your OS steam should recognize that you're trying to log in from the same IP as usual, and only ask you for that security code.

It doesn't seem to be the ip it looks at. I've deleted my cookies and logged into steam several times, each time selecting remember me and typing a name into their code screen. So no go on that, pogo.

Yeah, it has consistently annoyed me for awhile now...I respect the reasoning behind it...but it does not make it any less tedious and aggravating. I have never been banned before...but I have been put through the hassle of having to go check emails to enter stupid codes etc...

I use 2 pcs, tablet and mobile. Every time I login the browser of any device and then use another device I'm logged off there and on the rest of devices (except last logged in). YES I mark remember me always.

I password reset will get you 5 days of not trading.

Oh yeah, IMHO Steams password requirements is a little over the top. Banks and other financial institutions is not that strict.

Not really, get code - enter code takes 2 min tops. I don;t mind my account having an extra layer of protection ..
