11/10 holy shit you're amazing please teach us your ways

I don't even have a scanner anymore where I am so I can't show you what I'm currently working on very nicely but I have a phone, so here take this. Slightly better angle here. Keep in mind it's incomplete and I just work on it in my dorm with these free pens they give out at orientation.

And some old stuff that I posted in a thread before, so I'll just repost it verbatim. If you've already clicked on it there's really nothing new.

Here's the detailed stuff in some really old scans: click clickity clackity clockity clerk

The cute animals and boxes with faces I usually just draw in old classwork and binder paper, very little of it is scanned, but take a few: :3 (´・ω・`) (◕‿◕) (⌐■_■)

Thank you! And i really love your style! I am pretty shit at drawing without a reference .Keep up the good work!

Thanks.

Drawing without a reference is like all I do, so I guess I might be able to help you a tiny bit. If you're not looking for something extremely realistic, take a pen, and just start drawing directly, without making scratchy, sketchy lines. Go for a finished product immediately, you'll probably fail but that's the entire point.

See my cover photo for an example, this was done on a notepad immediately without any sketching or pre-planning, or references.

Now if you're looking for something more realistic and you don't have any references, then just sketch out an extremely loose, rough outline, then try to imagine where everything is placed, how objects interact with each other, where the shadows from each object would fall on another object, how things move and fold and crease, etc. Just sketch those details in very loosely, very roughly, then keep adding more details and darker lines where things should be correct. Ignore any lines that you've placed wrongly. Remember that you don't have a reference picture, so obviously some lines and proportions will be wrong the first time you draw from memory. This is okay, just ignore the lines and sketch in the correct ones. This is easier in pencil, but works fine in pen too.

Typically the first few times you do this it'll look like the Vitruvian Man (especially if you're trying to draw people without a reference and you suck at it aka me) with a bunch of correct and incorrect perspecitives/parts on top of each each other. You are supposed to make mistakes, which teaches you, eventually, how to draw things from memory. Don't be afraid to draw lines that are totally wrong. Just draw the correct one on top and note the difference between the lines that look good and the ones that don't.

Pretty good.

I'm a bit of a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to art and creating things. My deviantART gallery. I have deleted stuff here and there over the yrs. I also have a jewelry only and stock accounts. But that is my main account. I need to update it, because I have some new sketches, paintings, and jewelry that needs posting. There is also plenty of private pieces I have done for myself or my bf that aren't posted.

I don't have any good pencils either, you can see in the video that most of the time i use only a mechanical pencil .Just give it a try ^ ^

you can add shadows in pen, just protip.

hard shadows you just fill in completely and don't touch the area while the ink dries.

softer shadows you can cross hatch (cloth shading, fabric shading), just draw parallel lines of varying density (this works great on wood textures, metallic things, etc), or just stipple or add in swirly lines however you like depending on texture.

In uni as well, don't really use pencils at all. Haven't completed an assignment in pencil since probably middle school lol (excluding scantrons lol)

Pretty great :D I draw too but in a very different style since I don't have the patience for this stuff, I do quick drawings that take 15 minutes at most, anyway here is just one example, also, I don't think about what I'm going to draw I just pick up a pen & some paper and just start drawing

hi-res scans plz

I'd like to take a nice hard, long (such innuendo, I know), look at it. I draw quite a lot myself (pretty much all non-referenced visualization stuff), but I don't usually do portraits as I suck at them and I think having a look at your drawings will help me improve my own technique. Quite impressive overall.

The drawing looks quite nice - 4.5/5. I only have one question, did you draw it just by yourself or did you use another picture as a reference? If you drew that without a reference, then I'm really impressed. It takes a lot of skill and understanding to draw like that.
