I'm posting today and in the next Fridays a series of private giveaways for forum members. Your SteamGifts account must be at least 3 weeks old and you can enter only one of the giveaways of the list.

There will be more rounds but the special rule applies to all giveaways linked in the thread, you can't enter in one of the giveaways of the first round and later enter again.

You will not know what giveaways will be created and how long this event will last. You can try to guess, though. I don't want set my Steam inventory privacy to private, but you can't be sure all the giveaways will be from the Steam store, or if I buy the game after the giveaway has been closed, or if the giveaway is always from me, or so...

You will have to pick your giveaway wisely, considering what you can win and how many chances you have to win.

This special rule was approved by Support. If you ignore the rule and enter multiple giveaways and win one, I'll request a new winner.

All rounds will start, indicatively, Friday, and end Monday, 19:00 CEST (17:00 GMT, it's the time when the Steam store front page gets updated with the new deals). They can be private giveaways or puzzle giveaways (not hard puzzles, presumably).

Everyone is welcome to enter my giveaways, just make sure you follow the rules.

--- Round 1 (10 April - 14 April) --

Total participants: 760 (69 invalid)
Total entries: 923 instead of 760 (163 invalid)

They are all quality games. That is critically acclaimed games or games I enjoyed. And I'm going on with this.

--- Round 2 (18 April - 21 April) --

Total participants: 1021 (102 invalid), 305 (round 2 only, 37 invalid)
Total entries: 1214 (193 invalid)

More good games here. Sorry, I was forced not to use direct links, due to an unwanted number of invalid entries. I feel like I forgot something but let's start...

--- Round 3 (25 April - 28 April) --

Total participants: 1117 (106 invalid)
Total entries: 1316 (199 invalid)

They are hungry and want to eat you. Do you hear them coming? You should, they are not sweet-smelling. I don't know how can they always attack by surprise so easily in the movies and so...

I hope you aren't disappointed for the number of giveaways, there is no fixed number for that.

Oh well, I'm not used to troll people. Anyway, it isn't bad thing be always skeptical.

Will you tell us if it becomes the final round?

No, I will not.

Also, the total number of giveaways per round isn't fixed. It may be more than the current one or less, or might be just one.

Hey, so is it fine to remove an entry if none of them have actually ended yet and still re-enter one of the future ones?
I misread the thread a little bit the first time and was under the impression you could under one each round or something.

Sure, you can do that.

Thanks for this interesting concept of giveaways! I am over thinking Q1 way too much because I guessed way too many times and can't figure it out lol

Aaaaargh! I can't solve the puzzle :( I'm not at all familiar with the game in question. Oh well.... I like your idea mr. Bruto. As someone who always only enter giveaways for games I actually would play, I like seeing a system that maybe makes people think what they ACTUALLY want, and not just enter a bunch of giveaways cuz "why the hell not".

I'm glad that you appreciate. I hope it will work as expected and that you all understand the rule. I'm worried as I see more entries than what I expected. For the puzzle, you just need a basic knowledge of that game, you can solve it even if you never played it.

That is one fine inventory you have there, sir/madam. While it is a massive decision, I shall await patiently for the desired effect, being a certain giveaway. Muchas gracias, and bueno suerte!

I can't solve the puzzle :(

Perhaps I need to add a bit of motivation. Not everyone own the game of the puzzle giveaway. It's a 2013 not bundled game. I posted some hints in the thread on how to solve the puzzle and edited a bit the starting message inside the quiz. There are basically only 3 questions to get the giveaway link, without counting the auxiliary questions. There are only 3 solvers/entries so far, thus you can have a good chance to win.

Also, please make sure you read the rules that apply in this series of giveaways. You can't enter in round 2, if you already participated in the round 1. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush?

Aww, the game I really want is from 2013! Now I have to keep trying on Q3.

Edit: still stuck, will try again later.

If you have really failed using my previous advices, maybe try to sing it? :D I wouldn't be able to, I think.

Q3 is a little harder than what I wanted. Anyway, you can still guess what branch of QA3 and using this to find the answer (there are three distinct answers, more two alternative forms). I keep trying to think of a way to improve the question, but the remaining time is not much.

Made it to the last question but can't tell what the main "thing" is. I'll enter another round unless I figure it out in time. Good luck to the solvers.

Giveaways are open for another 9 hours.

Current stats.

Total users: 697 (invalid: 63)
Total entries: 853 (invalid: 156)

Resident evil 5, entries: 281 (invalid: 50)
Battlefield Bad Company 2, entries: 233 (invalid: 54)
Alan Wake, entries: 140 (invalid: 35)
Brutal Legend, entries: 79 (invalid: 26)
Trine, entries: 65 (invalid: 26)
Shadowgrounds Survivor, entries: 52 (invalid: 28)
?, entries: 3 (invalid: 0)

I was a bit too optimistic about the reroll, sorry. I need some idea to reduce the invalid entries for the next round.

Bump for solved, and to ask what tool you use to get all those statistics?

No tool needed here, magic of course.

And it will be worse with each round.

One way to combat this is to put some CV requirement.

Or maybe make X groups, one per game given away. Allow everyone to join for some time, than change to private, kick duplicates and post giveaway for each group.

Ouch! I've a hunch some people enter giveaways with a script, and I know some other people don't understand much English, so any restrictions that require reading would be useless... :( Hopefully someone will think of a solution, I'm stumped. Good luck!

1 decade ago

The number of invalid entries is lower than I expected! Usually my private forum giveaways with rules get about 50% unqualified entries. It must be due to your good organization and wording! /clap

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Perhaps you could put the giveaway links behind one puzzle that has few simple questions regarding the rules.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes, this is my current idea, I hope it can work. I don't want to create giveaway for contributors or so.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It doesn't work. There were couple of giveaways for 'unlucky users' employing exaclty this idea. End result: 50+% not qualifying entries.
