Anyone recommend an Adode Photoshop alternative (reasonably price, or free) for PC (windows based)? I'm a cheap bastard, and I need to be able to put arrows on images and save in .tiff format for journal articles. Does Black Ink on Steam do this?

Also, I'm in a GA group where we insult each other, and it is hilarious. So feel free to put in your insulting statements, gifs, or youtube links in the comments.

Thanks!

Gimp, of course. But it requires some skill and habit (youtube help you).

I use Gimp and Paint.net
However I suggest you paint.net, because it's very simple to use (unlike gimp) and free :)

I use GIMP for a lot of digital art stuff and it is fine. You can put arrows on things if you want and save as .TIFF also. I don't use Paint.NET as I couldn't get pressure sensitivity to work with my graphics tablet, which was fairly important to me. But otherwise it is very good simple to use but basic image editing software. I have Black Ink on Steam and it has some really interesting and unique features for digital painting - but I doubt it is anything remotely like what you are looking for. It is not aimed at basic image editing.

Agree. I don't know how to close a thread. Anyone know? Nevermind. I think I just did it.

Thanks Blonkers and Nerdhouse. Did not know that! That is awesome!

I just installed it. Here is a link that I used, "How To Download Adobe Photoshop CS2 For Free Legally"

http://www.redmondpie.com/download-adobe-photoshop-cs2-for-free-legally-while-you-still-can/

I will check out paint.net and GIMP as well.

I've only got a little bit of experience with the GIMP myself, but tons of folks I've talked to about alternatives seem to swear by it.

I use Pixlr when I have to quickly edit images online and don't have Photoshop installed.
