When depressed, people tend to give stuff away because they don't think it would matter for them whether they have it or not.

Of course, from the mental health aspect... the items they are generally giving away are items they already own. That's how we always knew if an inmate was thinking of suicide. They would start giving away all of what little belongings they had.

I think many of us have been there; that point when you you've encountered just enough crappiness in your life to ponder whether or not mankind inherently sucks. The only thing I can say is that 9 times out of 10 people aren't really that awful. It's giving to those 9 people that we enjoy... so we just focus on them since the tenth person already took our shit and blacklisted too because they are just that flippin' awesome!

Ages ago I had a lot of fun with The Clou 2 so the Masterplan looks quite cool but given you are apparently not feeling to good right now about giving and worrying some people are abusing your generosity this feels a little weird...
Regarding the poll I would say that SteamGift sometimes has a rather negative impact on my mood (to avoid the word mental state) but that normally has more to do with how much time I've spent on the forums and doesn't change wheather I've made GAs lately or not.

Sorry to hear that some people are taking something positive and nice and making it into something negative. :/ Direct gifting should be for fun, because you feel like/want to gift someone...not out of any obligation or honestly any other reason that that. If you want to stop gifting, great! If you enjoying giving to certain people, great!
