Would you want to contribute to the London Underground network?
I've actually been planning my own train for a while now. The only thing that kept me from posting it was that I was still working on the puzzle.
But this sounds so much more fun!
Count me in please :D

The idea seems to be an absolute hit though!
I know I prefer participating in events like this instead of doing something all by myself :-)
If possible I'd love to take the Jubilee line <3

Dibs on Mornington Crescent! Diiiiibs!
Though Baker Street would also be cool
Actually please please please give me Baker Street as well, I need it. If someone else gets it, I'll fite u m8.

I'll keep an eye out, but I may not have enough time to snap up my stations before someone else does (full time job and time zones and all that). So I do hope you and/or your line managers are open to bribes. You know, I scratch your back, you scratch mine, that sort of thing... :-)
There will be 5 Baker Street GAs, so I guess I could live with just getting one.
Actually, I've got a better idea -- I'd like to take the Bakerloo line. Like, all 25 stations, line management and giveaways. That way I'll be sure to have at least one Baker Street, and people who want Bakerloo exclusives have to come to me. Mwa-ha-ha.

I'll rack up some games by that time, I can take care of a few stations (5+ easily) or maybe even a whole line. On the other hand, bundle-stuff, but not only the clutter ones :P Based on the wiki page, there are a few lines below 30 stations, I can do one of them :D

Count me in! Though most of my games will be cheap and worthless so don't get your hopes up

I would love to contribute, could do a few giveaways ^^

I am willing to pitch in one/some GAs and perhaps take over a station, but I am worried about the commitment. I'd love to help out though, given I have enough time. Could you help clarify how much commitment this would be? I just want to make sure I have the time and energy because this is such an amazing idea! <3 Thank you!

Thanks Rachel, FR sent!
It's mostly being available in chat from time to time and update a spreadsheet with what people tell you about their GAs during the 2nd phase (i.e. their GA links), and then reach out to them and tell them what they have to write in their GA description (i.e. the links to previous & next station). I'll provide that info to all volunteers, I simply need help speaking to (potentially) hundreds of people...

Incidentally, should we have too many contributors/games (which I see as a very real possibility) there are several stations where you can change for National Rail. It would be easy to hang separate trains off those.

DLR is also not in the plan yet, nor Overground. But I think we're good with just Underground, and if there's real interest, move on to another subway network for another event (somebody suggested Tokyo... I got no idea yet about their subway, let's see)

The DLR and Overground are kinda lame, though. :-P
Moving to a completely different subway system is an option, but you'd ideally need to cover all of it, and that might be too difficult (or still not enough). That's why an incidental train would work with a side excursion to rail (and then not include station names); nobody is expecting us to cover the entirety of Great Britain. :-)
On the other hand, of course, people could just save their gifts for another time.

Cool idea, Per3zat! Good luck to all involved in organizing the train system. Sounds like you have your work cut out for you.

oh yes please!!!
i don't have a lot of slots/keys at the moment because of my super evil slow train,
but i'd like to manage a line... if you need help.
i'll find the time for this enterprise

every time I read the title of this discussion in the list I read it as "Love Trains", like love boats or something, and I stop and wonder what a love train is...every time

Update: closed, as the sign-up thread is now live.
Apparently trains have become quite popular here since I created my first one 18 months ago... so let's take this train business up one level, shall we? Without further ado, let me present
Let's Train: London Underground "Mind the Gap" edition
Instead of a single train, let's create 11 trains, one for each line of the the London Underground, with a total of 355 giveaways! Yes indeed, London Underground is one of the world's biggest metro train systems :-)
Wait, what?
I would like to recreate the London Underground network of 11 lines and 270 stations as a community giveaway train network on Steamgifts. Every station (giveaway) is mapped to one of the lines, and links to the previous and next station, as well as to all other lines that stop in the same station (we will have multiple GAs for stations that share multiple lines). That way we end up with 355 GAs required for the complete London Underground network. Once we have the London Underground network setup I'll publish the Kings Cross St. Pancras station GA (6 lines going through here!) in the forum, and people can travel from there to all the underground stations...
Call for help
Unfortunately I can only make 100 GAs at a time, meaning I need help from you folks! We need 255 additional contributors who can take over 1 station each. Or fewer contributors, if some end up owning more than one station :-) However from these numbers alone it's clear I will also need help managing the event! This is why I'm looking for volunteers to help me with the logistics of the event. Volunteers will manage a train line, i.e. collect the required info from the contributors and tell them what information they have to add to their GAs. There will be a Steam group to coordinate this effort, and I'll make a few nice GAs for all volunteers and top contributors once the event is over. Let me know in the comments below if you'd like to help, or have any questions to ask first.
Timing
GA requirements
GA should all be made private, with no region restrictions, and end at the same day in October (to be announced, do not create any GAs just yet!). Other than that I don't think we should have any rules concerning GAs. Contributors can choose what game to give away, what level to require, who to blacklist, etc. Oh, and here's a Mini Metro to get you started!
FAQ
Q: Are cheap games / bundles OK? A: Of course, all games are welcome!
Q: Can I choose my stations?" A: Yes, I'll have sign-up forms ready for the 2nd step. If somebody wanted to own an entire line that should also be possible (let me know before the 2nd week)
Q: How to get in touch with you? A: in Let's Train group chat steam://friends/joinchat/103582791439692202
TL;DR
I'm looking for volunteers to help me run this event. Read the sections above if you're interested.
