Among the bad things that have happened today, I get noticed of an issue with a license activated on my account. I already know that my weakness isn't the others problem, so I'll limit myself to this.

Some months ago I bought The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition in G2A, the payment was sucefull and the key was delivered, working without any problem. Today I was looking my activated licenses to find some old game to download and play, when I saw this:

"The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Retail (RU)"

I'm wondering what means that "(RU)" at the end, 'cause when I bought the key, in the page of the store clearly says ROW and that it's indicated too in the receipt of the purchase in PayPal.

So, it's my game restricted to Russia? how I've activated a russian key on my account? Will VALVe ban my account if they think I've used a VPN?

Yeah, you're f*cked, say goodbye to your account.
Maybe no, it's probably just a mistake and can be solved.
I came just for the giveaway, but there's none. You've been Blacklisted.

In that case is VALVe's fault for this error or mine for taking advantage of this error?

But you know if this Russian version have some difference with a real ROW key? If they have a separated version, probably yes. :S

New Vegas is a slightly different case as the Russian version is actually a separate game.

Oh I had no idea. The thing is that I bought the game being in Poland, and it came without spanish language option, but with a language unofficial patch it got fixed. Do you mean the contents are suposed to be different too?

The content is the same but you can own both and being separate games they have separate community hubs/achievements and such. I'm not sure what other languages this version supports but I know it includes English (some of the RU/RHCP versions dont).

It isn't at all any different, mate. I thought it would be in Russian yet it wasn't. So I did some more research before I gave a positive for the seller and people said that there was a time when all keys that were sold, even on Steam, I think, were RU versions. Why, I do not know :D Haven't played it that much, but the game is still in my lib even after months, so... all good.

A lot of my retail games are RU and it never occurred to me it could be problem haha. (Though I thought it was weird when I bought it in an actual shop in an actual not Russia) I can assure you it's the same as a non-ru version :D
I hope you will have better luck soon by the by. c:

If you're liying, I'll come back here to blame you! haha xD

I'm not really worried about the differences between versions, I was mostly intrested in know if VALVe could ban my if they consider I've used a VPN to active on my account a game from a different region, 'cause if you don't know, that's against the "Steam Subscriber Agreement". And lose ,1K games for something like this...

I was afraid to do that basing myself in the theory of maybe that could raise the alarm in VALVe . But I guess it will be the only way to be sure.

Witcher 2 RU package: https://steamdb.info/sub/13944/apps/

apps included mention The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition so it's fine.

With most games, it won't really matter if it says things like EU/RoW/RU and so on, it's still the same game. It was most likely just their Russian publisher who generated that retail key.
