I love power but I also love portable power so I like to use a portable rig. Anyways I got my Notebook few years ago it's the Asus G74sx-xr1. I don't have a camera with me at the moment or a mirror to use the webcam so here's a picture of my notebook from Google Images. clicky

So are any of you Notebook Gamers? or at least game on a Notebook sometimes? and if so, what's your notebook :D

EDIT: Oops. I almost forgot the specs. You can find it here

6 GB Vaio, i5. Intel R HD 3000.
W7, DX 10.1.

Run Skyrim on Medium/High with minimal lag (have some high and medium settings mashed up). Just look at my steam library to see what all I play :P

Notebook is useful for playing on the TV with a wireless xbox 360 controller.

Since I moved out to college, I've used a laptop for everything.

It's got an i5 (GMA4000), 10GB RAM (stupid, 2GB is soldered on), and an Nvidia 640GT. It's (surprisingly) an Acer Ultrabook.

Battery life is over 8 hours, has a built in DVD drive (still under 4lbs, crazy). Originally had a 500GB drive with a 20GB SSD for Intel RST, but I replaced the 500GB mechanical with a Samsung 256GB SSD, and the 20GB RST SSD with a 256GB Corsair SSD (it's just a Mini PCIe). Wouldn't have anything else.

People laugh when they see it's an Acer, but you can't complain for $700. It's a beast for the price, and it's under 4lbs.

Will be investing in a tower pc but ATM I have a laptop with these specifications: i5 CPU @ 2.67 GHZ (4 Cores), 4GB of RAM, ATI Mobility Readeon HD 5650 (Supports Direct X 11), SanDisk Extreme SSD 120GB, Also, over 3TB of external storage. My peripherals include a Razer DeathAdder, Logitech USB Headset and Standard Wireless Keyboard. Can run skyrim on high. My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate, and I also run different Linux distributions from time to time.

pretty good, although i can only play skyrim on high at 720p res though cuz if at native res 1080p for me the fps is to low for me. Well I hope your future investment in a tower pc is a good one my friend! :D

I can't speak to the G53 directly, but IIRC, it was cooled very similarly to the G73. My G74 has virtually the same cooling system as the G73 (slight change in the position of the intake), and its the best cooling system I've ever encountered in a notebook. Intake on the G74 is underneath the monitor, between the panel and the main chasis; exhaust is straight out the back of the system. Thus, no melted laps or table tops.

Because of the air pathway, fan pads underneath the unit have little effect, but they aren't needed. Eight threads of Prime95 (CPU upgraded to i7-2760) with Furmark running in the background (GPU overclocked to 900 Mhz Core Clock/1375 Mhz Memory Clock) take the G74 to about 83C unless you're holding the unit at an odd, vertical angle (as described below). (NOTE: IC Diamond on both; not sure if the reseller used 7 or 24 caret, though.)

I use the system at what some would consider an odd angle due to back problems, and the cooling system works just fine even with the vents pointing straight up into the air instead of being horizontal. I have seen it overheat, but that was when it was tilted to the side in such a way that the heat pipes couldn't circulate properly (exhaust vents at 2 o'clock high).

Before anybody labels me an ASUS fanboi, their factory service takes 30 days to fix a known issue with the touchpad (that dated back to the G73) while breaking something else, (resulting in 93 days before all was working correctly) and I despise chicklet keyboards.

I have an old Compaq netbook (can't remember exactly what model, but it's pretty under-powered - a 1.66ghz processor and 2gb RAM). It can just about play Torchlight in netbook mode, and is good for most things from GOG.com. That's enough for me considering I only use it when I'm away for work.

I used to be a laptop gamer but a few weeks ago i bought a desktop at the multiply recommendations of friends, and was amazed at the amount of power for the tiny price i payed. So to anyone out there that doesnt need to constantly move around i would say get a desktop you will notice the difference, and can upgrade parts as it gets old

Yes. :D Always awesome to see I'm not the only one! I needed the portability... and didn't want to have to stop playing my games while I was away. :P

Vaio F series
Another view
Keyboard
And my cat with it <3

Specs:

2.2 GHz Intel Core i7-2670QM (3.1 GHz with Turbo Boost Technology; 6 MB L3 cache)
NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M (1 GB)
6 GB DDR3 RAM
640 GB SATA hard drive (7200 RPM)
16.4" display (1920x1080 resolution)

I've also got two external drives: a USB 2.0 2 TB and a USB 3.0 3 TB (both Seagate). I just use an old Microsoft mouse I got used for 10 cents, my somewhat old Logitech controller, and a pair of Bose earbuds I was given as a gift (can't be assed to buy a headset; I'm more interested in hearing my music sound good without clunky headphones - and you can't beat free, right? lol). I have a Thermaltake fan I usually use, but my kitten decided to bite the power cord again, so I've got to pick up some electrical tape and fix it... again.

Yep, I only have a laptop right now because my old place was really small and didn't even have room for an actual desk.

My laptop is this one. It does the job, can play some newer games like Skyrim and Darksiders, but those two are about the most flashy games it can play. Thankfully I don't care about graphics and most of the games that capture my interest are older or indie games. I can play the fancy stuff on my console if needed.
