Afterburner, no watermark unlike Fraps. It DOES show FPS on videos, but I'm sure there's a way to remove it.

It's only "free" if you have the right video card. (And unusable on OP's laptop)

oCam http://ohsoft.net/product_ocam.php I found it after a lot of searching. It's quite obscure and I've never heard of it before, but it worked! Captures sound and image, can export as mp4, avi, mpg and more. It worked for me, maybe for you too ;)

If you have an up to date Nvidia card (600 series or newer, I think, but you can force support for other Nvidia cards, like mobile chipsets, using a desktop shortcut) Nvidia Shadowplay has good recording quality and almost no performance hit. See the link here, the description describes what to do. It works back some way, but I'm not particularly sure how far. I made a test video on a 750M a while back, and they keep updating Shadowplay, so it should get better (like mic support, which was added after my recording).

Fraps, though it has that little Fraps logo at the top.

Normally the ones that works the best end up with a price tag. For the ones that are free, (doesn't include OBS) they tend to lack the great features or the framerate and/or the quality aren't great.

OBS, Razer Game Booster, Raptr, Evolve, MSI Afterburner, Xfire... and all of those I have on my PC right now. There are a lot more out there too.

In my experience, you might wanna invest some time searching which video game publishers you can record. I got a couple letters from YouTube asking me to give them the permissions for each game which I had failed to obtain at the time. They took some videos down and disabled monetization on others.

What my friend does is uses Camtasia's free trial, then when it runs out she uninstalls it completely and re-installs the free trial.

Open Broadcaster Software is pretty dang good, takes a bit to setup properly tho. Works really well for pretty much everything tho. Also, if you right click on the preview, you can change it to fit the screen, to avoid weird resizing.

I wanna try to make a lets play. Is there any software that's actually COMPLETELY free that can do that?
Yes, i have searced the web. I did not find anything of use.
Making a list of good free recording software here is not only good for me, but for anybody else on SteamGifts trying to find free recording software! ;)
GOGOGO! :D
