Is it me or are the Free to play games way more fun than the games you pay 60 bucks for..
I think people that make free to play games are more focused on the game instead of the Money.

I got like 300 games on my steam and i'm still playing more F2P games than the games i've bought.

What are your thoughts about this?

Star Trek Online. Anything in the C-Store you can get through an in-game currency, and last I checked the amount of Dilithium you pay for Zen was at 88, from roughly 200 or so when the system first came out. And getting Dilithium is fairly easy, all things considered, being obtainable through several replayable missions. And then there's the combat, which is excellent in space and decent on the ground. I very much recommend it, at least to try.

Sometimes I find myself playing Gotham City Impostors rather than other expensive games. I don't think it's weird to enjoy F2P games more than paid games.

Yet you have 1,489.9 hours in TF2 and only 110 in Fallout, your second most-played game.

I doubt he spent the whole 1.489,9 hours playing, considering how TF2 drop system works. Also, it wasn't always free.

True. My friend bought it and currently has a little over 3.5k hours in the game, all of that playing.

There's many, I never supported subscription games unless they had lifetime (Like Lotro and Star Trek).

Few great f2p games: Star Wars (Now Free), Eden Eternal, Ragnarok Online, Ragnarok Online 2, Dungeon Fighters Online, Runes of Magic, I think Iris Online was discontinued and Allods Online died since that pay to waste patch ages ago.

Or b2p: Guild Wars 1 & 2

Paid games are usually better for the simple reason F2P games leave the best content if you pay.

Waitwaitwait!
You just brought up TF2 as an example? Really? Apart from TF2 being a cool game, it´s ALL about the money. Locked things/content everywhere. You can play thousands of hours and will never be able to aquire the same things as a person who has payed (unless you also traded thousands of hours, that is).

Still content that you are denied access to unless you pay?

Ok people here are some really good F2P games:

-Team Fortress 2

-DoTa 2

-PoE (path of exile)

-Planetside 2

-AirMech

-Hawken

-Mechwarrior online

-Age of empire online

-Might & Magic Heroes Online

-End of Nations

Some of these games are still in beta

I think you just really enjoy the fact they are free, maybe the thought of spending money somehow sours the gaming experience for you.

As much fun as AdventureQuest is, few free games can hold a candle to the production values of games like Skyrim or GTAIV. And yes, in this case, production values includes important gaming elements like gameplay, graphics and content.

Most free games thrive off of being repetitive so the developers don't have to dig too deep when it comes to developing a lot of content for it. Even games like Team Fortress 2 (which wasn't free initially) and Planetside 2 are just shooters. Not that there's anything inherently wrong with that, but it's the type of game where you only need to develop a few maps, a few classes, throw in some funny hats and people make their own fun.

Same with most of the high end F2P games.

Most F2P are rubbish the and quality titles usually have a fairly large developer behind them

Agreed. There are some good F2P games out there I'm sure, but most of them seem to be produced by Zynga-wannabes. And as for the viability of the model - has any MMO that went from paid to F2P survived with a shred of its former glory (or lack thereof)?

Oh! And while it isn't really a Steam game, if you get a chance, check out Hawken, it is pretty good.

I am finding games that cost between 2 and 20 dollars new are the best, there are a few 60 dollar titles I enjoy(skyrim, fallout NV, D3(700+ hours and made me $100 after blizzards cuts) and GW2 had their moments)

for completely free games there has to be a good community or I get bored
