Ok, so my whitelist is kinda small at the moment, and I'd like to bring in a few more good souls who aren't bots or from other countries (since most of my keys are region locked to USA or similar), but I also don't want to have thousands of responses to wade through, so here are the requirements:

  1. Must be in USA or Canada or at least able to accept keys for that region. Sorry to anyone else! We can still be friends, but my whitelist giveaways are exclusive to those regions as a way to reduce headache. I will still have non-whitelist giveaways for every region.

  2. Must speak English. I need to be able to communicate with you if the key doesn't work. Besides, this whole thread is in English, so you gotta be able to communicate with me to even get on the list.

  3. Must have contribution level 3 or higher on SteamGifts and either a ratio of more gifts sent than gifts won or a recent giveaway within the past 6 months. Sometimes, I'll not enforce this for giveaways offered to random groups, but for whitelist exclusives, this is an absolute rule.

  4. Must agree not to be a bish about a key not working. It rarely happens, but it happens. Let me know and we can delete the giveaway, but most of my keys cannot be replaced if they don't work.

  5. Your Steam profile should be public and always be public and you should have a recent history of playing games. There's no reason for me to give games to someone who won't play them. If you win, you should redeem the game on your account, not someone else's, because I'm not trying to give people free keys to proceed to resell them. If I notice you not redeeming keys you win, you will be blacklisted.

  6. Introduce yourself to me in this thread!
Respond with your favorite video game genre as well as your favorite video game of all time and give me a non-personally identifiable intro about what you're all about. (Please don't share your real name or anything like that.) What are your favorite movies, games, whatever? What hobbies do you have? Are you interested in VR? Perhaps you're a game developer or an artist? What brought you to SteamGifts and what keeps you here?

I'll start:
Hi, everyone! I'm Syrsly, and I chose this username long ago as a joke name for Xbox Live when Microsoft told me my old username was too offensive. (It wasn't.) Anyway, the name stuck and carried over to all my other social accounts, so I'm Syrsly everywhere now. Easy to hunt me down! lol

I like pretty much every video game genre, and I love board games and card games as well. I'm not picky at all, but I prefer a challenging experience that rewards strategy and/or exploration. I just kind of hate always-online, battle pass style games and broken messes and blatant asset flips. I'm currently playing through many survival crafting games and enjoying a few new shooters. Most of the way through vanilla Valheim on a private server (prepping for the final boss). Might continue Valheim once we're done as a group building thing. Playing Raft with a friend every weekend for a few hours. Enjoying a new twin stick shooter called Windowkill that was made in Godot and really impressed me. There's a free version of it on Itch, but I recommend just buying the Steam version. Started Tiny Tina's Wonderlands and Tribes 3 last night. As I say this, I'm realizing I still haven't played The Witcher 3. I wonder if I ever will. My backlog is crazy.

My favorite video game of all time has to be Super Mario 64. It's so replayable! It was amazing and stands the test of time. That game and a few others from the same time period gave me a love for 3d platformer collectathons, and the most recent one I really enjoyed was Pseudoregalia, which is already in a bundle sadly but worth picking up asap.

I draw digitally, make 3d models in Blender, have ~12 years of combined off-and-on experience as a hobbyist game developer using Unity, Unreal, and Flash as well as a few years making fan games in RPG Maker 95 way back in 1996 or so. I am a professional full stack web developer, so I host my own websites and run a 24/7 chatbot for my stream just for fun.

I came to SteamGifts so long ago that I've actually forgotten where I heard about it. I stopped using the site for a few years because someone was really mean to me about a key not working, but I came back years later with more maturity enabling me to deal with entitled people who complain about free stuff.

Oh geez, I'm Ignition365, originally my handle was VehicularManslaughterMan, like a terrible MegaMan boss, but the name was too long for everything, so I picked up Ignition and then we had a group of people who started adding 365 to handles and I just never stopped.

I like most genres and will give just about anything a try. My current favorite game of all time is Elden Ring. My hobbies revolve around gaming, the big one that ate up most of my adult life was/is collecting console games. Favorite movie is Scott Pilgrim, favorite show is Community, could watch either all the time. I dont remember how I found this site, but I was active for a bit like 10 years ago, disappeared, and came back last year when I got back into PC gaming.

Hey, I'm Xiang. I've been playing games since the NES. I like most genres, but my favorite game genre is RPG, mostly JRPG, and my favorite game would be Final Fantasy 6.
I love reading, non fiction on various topics, and also Science Fiction and Fantasy.

I have a double degree in Linguistics and Mandarin Chinese, with a certificate in Asian studies. I studied Japanese for a year, and also have a year of computer science classes before I switched majors.
I'm fascinated by other languages and cultures and hope to live and work overseas this year or next. I'm currently teaching myself Malaysian/Indonesian, which gives you an idea of where I want to end up, although I'd probably be happy mostly anywhere in Asia or Europe.

It takes a lot of courage to switch from IT to a Language major imo. Kudos to you my fellow enthusiastic linguistics. I love learning new languages but unfortunately in my country, there are barely any uses for it other than English and Japanese >.<

There doesn't seem to be a lot of use for it here either, hence the desire to live overseas. The Computer Science major would almost certainly been better in terms of finding a job >.< I do find Linguistics fascinating, and I love studying it though :D If I end up staying here I'd want to move to New York.

I don't have a linguistics degree, I thought about it back when I had to choose which college to enroll to but I decided to go with another major (Ironically I hate that major after just a few years into it but I finished it anyway and currently I'm studying an IT master degree. So kind of opposite to you xD). We can add each other on Steam if you want. I'm super interested in language and I love talking to people who share the same passion. I even know this one interesting girl who speaks likes 7 languages: English (duh), Spanish, Japanese, Hebrew, French, Italian, Norwegian

Hi!

Favorite video game genre... It used to be 4X games; I have probably over 1000 hours on Civilization 3, but I haven't felt like I had time and inclination to play one in quite some time. I like grand strategy, but they are sometimes so hard to learn. I like citybuilders. I honestly don't know that I'd narrow it to a single genre other than maybe first/third person action-adventure games (including RPGs like skyrim, and sci-fi like Horizon Zero Dawn.). I have a few hundred hours in Railroad Tycoon 2.

My username was a family joke of sorts when I was a kid. At the time I was the smallest so I chose the "Micro" bit, and the whole things just stuck. I love model trains; specifically O scale. I also love reading: historical fiction, sci-fi & fantasy, WW2 & Medieval history. I'm currently loving David Weber's Star Kingdom series.

I love old movies. By this I mean classic hollywood: stuff made in the years 1930s-1950s + a few movies form the 60s. I just watched The Pink Jungle was was vastly amused by it.

I used to make mom hand-drawn/traced-from-an-image birthday cards, but nowadays i don't care for creating artwork, and I've never been interested in VR. AR sounds like a lot of fun, however.

I honestly don't recall where i heard about steamgifts (Maybe reddit?). I joined without being fully sure if this site was legit, but I stayed because a now-former member made a large (1100 cars? I think that number is about correct) level-0 alphabetized train, and I won something--that actually worked on steam. I've stuck ever since!

Baen released part of book 1 A Beautiful Friendship on their Free CDs back in the day, with the copyright notice that the contents may be copied, distributed, read, but never sold. A link to those CDs is at Baen CD Freedoors, Disc 9. Look for the anthology "More than Honor" about halfway down on the left side, then click "read as HTML." Chapters 1-11 (of 29) of the story "A Beautiful Friendship" (later expanded into the book A Beautiful Friendship - Star Kingdoms book 1) is the first story in that series.

Or, you can read Chapters 1-11 directly on their website: https://www.baen.com/chapters/W200210/0671878573.htm

Link to David Drake's introduction and notes on the Free CDs: https://baencd.thefifthimperium.com/03-SlammersCD/SlammersCD/orientation.htm

The files on this CD are not encrypted. Jim doesn't understand the logic of making his books hard for people to read. Neither do I, though we seem to be in the minority among publishers and authors. Read them. Copy them. Give them to your friends. Dive into them like a porpoise, throw them up in the air and let them fall down on your—no, that was something different.

You're not supposed to sell the files. "Who'd be stupid enough to buy something they could have for free?" you may well ask yourself. If you do sell them, you are a Bad Person and may later exhibit signs of wanting to run for political office; but between you and me, I'm not going to come hunt you down.

All four books are available here, though they might be cheaper piecemeal: https://www.baen.com/honor-harrington-star-kingdom-novels.html

Wow, thanks. I already ordered book 1, so I'll read it when it gets here. I prefer physical media when I can swing it, so I'm not really interested in the ebook format. That may change whenever I figure out how to comfortably use my Surface Pro as an e-reader.

I also prefer physical media, but the ebook version takes up less space. I've found a lot of good used scifi on ebay or my local bookstore.

So far, Treecat book 4 is excellent!

If you want to continue the world of the Harringtons, most of those books were released free on various of those CDs. I have extracted from those free cds and combined the folders; most ebook apps can handle the (older) file formats they shipped with.

I'm TheNothing. I also had a username that may have been considered offensive but I had no good ideas for a new name, so I went with Nothing. I play a lot of shooters nowadays but I also like rogue-lites & open-world games. My favorite game is probably TF2; at least it used to be before Valve let it all fall apart. Gaming is my hobby, I'd like to try to make a game someday. I've never had a chance to try VR. I don't remember how I found SteamGifts but it's a cool site; winning a game is exciting!

My old username that was considered offensive was a similarly generic name. I had a typo in the name that made it sound like a gay slur, and apparently, everyone has to be politically correct nowadays on gaming platforms. It's kind of stupid if you ask me, but I wanted to change my name for a while before they forced me to, and because they forced it, I got the change for free instead of paying $10.

If you're interested in making your own games, definitely try out Godot game engine. It's your ticket to success!

Hi there, I'm OilAce (aka 'MistakesMade'). I REALLY like playing games, though I struggle to find time to actually play them, so now I have a massive backlog. But I just can't help but splurge on sales and bundles, especially with spring sale going on now. The one big hobby that I have is reading fanfiction of questionable quality. But beyond that, not much to say about me that makes me stand out in real-life.

I can't decide on one favorite genre, but it would either platformers (metroidvanias specifically) or first-person shooters (or just shooters in general). Similar situation for favorite games; either Terraria or Deep Rock Galactic, though if you look on my steam profile, those two are hardly the only games that I really enjoy.

Hi Syrsly, I'm Knightress. I've been here for just over a year and half, and I have no idea how I found this site. I do know that I stumbled upon it and signed up, completely forgot about it for about two months, and then found my way back in December of 2022. I really appreciate the community here, and even though I don't comment very often, I find it a very enjoyable place to spend a bit of time reading each day.

My favourite game of all time is Tomb Raider II. I love all of the TR games (yes, even Angel of Darkness), but none of them really compare to the second one. It would be hard for me to pick a favourite genre of games, but the list of games/series I've enjoyed a lot over the years include Eternal Darkness, F.E.A.R., Enderal, Doom, Darkness Within, Penumbra/Amnesia/SOMA, The Forest, Borderlands, Psychotoxic, Jill of the Jungle, and Wolfenstein. At the moment, I've been replaying a bunch of custom stories for Amnesia, and after that I intend to work my way through the five SG wins that I haven't started/completed yet. I also enjoy visual novels, primarily on my switch so that I can read them in bed before going to sleep. In that genre, those I've enjoyed most include Higurashi/Umineko, Raging Loop and Death Mark. I'm currently nearing the end of Root.Double and have had a blast with it. I have no particular interest in VR, mostly due to the cost, but can see myself trying it out at some point in the future.

Other than video games, my main hobbies are cooking and reading. I love trying out new recipes from around the world, especially ones with lots of unique, strong flavours. I also have a list of strange or reportedly "disgusting" foods that I want to try before I die. When it comes to books and comics/graphic novels, I have a wide range of interests. Primarily, I like novels in the mystery/thriller/drama, horror, modern/urban fantasy, and postmodern genres, but I often branch out to other topics/genres. My favourite book is The Cracker Factory by Joyce Rebeta-Burditt. Right now, I'm reading David Kushner's Masters of Doom, and before that I read Peng Shepherd's The Cartographers. Up next, I intend to tackle Clarence Darrow's The Story of My Life and You Shouldn't Have Come Here by Jeneva Rose. Comic/GN-wise, my favourites include Strangers in Paradise, Alias, 100 Bullets, Alan Moore's run on Swamp Thing, Crossed, Manhunter, and Waid's/Kitson's Legion of Super-Heroes.

The cost of VR is getting very affordable... in the States at least. You can get a Quest 2 for around $200 USD and it has everything you need for a decent wireless PCVR experience. It's not really good at AR, but it isn't a bad kit for casual on-the-go VR or for most PCVR apps/games. The controllers are crazy expensive to replace, but the frequency you have to replace such things is minimal, and some insurance plans cover VR controllers as regular controllers. Regardless, I hope you someday get to try it and see what you've been missing.

Legion of Super-Heroes is another book series I never really got into. I'll add it to my list of things to try, but I didn't like Waid's writing in other series, so I'll probably start with old versions of the series or something.

VR is definitely getting noticeably more affordable. I figure I'll probably end up taking the plunge in the next couple of years. There are a few games I'd be excited to try in VR!

Regarding Waid, it's actually kind of weird - I read other things he'd worked on, and was never that impressed. But I was enjoying the newest (at the time) incarnation of Supergirl, so when she joined LSH, I read the series from the beginning for context, and found Waid's writing to be rather enjoyable. I've since read some of the older Legion stuff, and I think it's pretty good. I hope you enjoy it, if you decide to give it a try. 🙂

I like Rogue type games, Strategy, and Team FPSs. I beat Rogue for BSD in the 1980s, I beat Moria and Angband in the 90s. No savescumming because I didn't know what that was at the time lol. I like games where I can stop and think or where I can play a support role and enable the younger people with better reflexes do the fast FPS parts.

Favorite of all time? Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead (CDDA) Play for FREE here It is open source and still in very active development. Second favorite is Team Fortress 2. When I was somewhat younger is was a real Force-A-Nature... Also played a LOT of Duke Nukem 3D in the 1990s and also the OG Team Fortress. I play a bit of Overwatch now and then but Overwatch "2" is really in a sad state these days. But I will tell you, the good times, they were VERY good.

Want to get into roguelikes?

  • Brogue is an approachable starting point that is faithful to the Genre. It's free.
  • A more modern, but still faithful, game is The Ground Gives Way it has some revolutionary ideas that are implemented very well. It's also free.
  • Honorable mention is Dungeons of Dredmorre Which is a Parody of the Rogue Genre but is also a very faithful, if hilariously unbalanced, Rogue game. it's not free, but it is cheap if you look for a deal.

Me? not much to say really. I'm an old Gen-Xer. I'm about taking care of my family and playing frugal games. I am a very patient gamer. I have waited over ten+ years for some games to come down in price. My thinking is that every day I wait, I have better hardware, the mods are better, and the game is more patched I like loud mechanical keyboards, I repair them and other (low voltage) electronics as a side gig. I also do a bit of carpentry, I make arcade cabinets (with emulators).

And No, I'm not a right-wing crazy boomer. That is my dad, I don't talk to him. I try to be as woke and tolerant as I can be. Trans Rights are Human Rights, Free 🍉/🇵🇸, Abolish Slavery. All of you are valid and should experience love. But honestly, I can keep my politics under my hat if they bother you. I don't plan on doing anything political on here.

I would like to have a fully working arcade cabinet someday, but I want to go the Raspberry Pi route with that, too. I have a Raspberry Pi 4B I've attached to the underside of a shelf, under a TV. For now, that's close enough. lol

I was the punk who knew how to fix the instruments and program/wire the synths. IMHO, A lot of progressive ideas came into the mainstream through punk. Met my first Trans friend at a punk show. We did not use that word..... but in this case it's accurate. Changing your gender is punk AF.

About arcade cabinets. It's very important to not use MDF unless you have a lot of PPE and specialized ventilation. Regular wood shop PPE won't protect you. The dust is very tiny and very bad for you. You must filter the exhaust, you can't just blow it out of a vent. It's no something that can be taken lightly. One set of cuts and you produce enough to poison small animals or children. If you don't know what MDF PPE is, don't even think about it. I don't fool with it.

Most of what makes up an arcade cabinet is just two pieces of cabinet grade plywood cut to the correct shape. You get that right and you can do whatever you like with the rest. The buttons and stuff can be pretty cheap unless you are a real button smasher. Here is a good mini cabinet that is easy to cut. It's not mine, but it's a good pattern. It works out like IKEA furniture However it says you can use MDF, which yes most old cabinets are MDF but most people are not equipped to safely cut it.

Yeah, Magic is definitely a luxury product nowadays. They're churning out way too many sets and such in the last couple years and people are getting burnout.

If you already "got out", it's not worth getting back into. I'm only still "in it" because I'm too entrenched at this point. Anyone asking me if it's worth getting into Magic, at this point I tell them "no".

Though, if you ever get that Magic "itch", a great game available on Steam is "Slay the Spire", which is a great single-player M:tGish roguelike game. I sunk many hundreds of hours into it, and there's many great mods available as well - the best of which is called "Downfall".

Hmm my favorite game is a tough one too. I'll go with Legend of Zelda Link to the Past. That was one of the most fun games I've ever played.

I'm into hiking and mountain biking. I like the beach. Don't like crowded, noisy places. I'm more of a nature guy.

Hi Syrsly - I'm Linus, and I'm a New Yorker. We feel like another nation much of the time, but our keys still unlock in the USA. Many many many - most - of my giveaways are with very old keys, from back in the days when bundles were a giddy new way to find games and fill the days: in my zeal I bought them by the handsful, and I'm still working my way through giving them away now that years have passed and I don't have the time I imagined I might have to play them all. Except for a few bad-chap developers and the occasional legit misunderstanding, the vast majority of these keys work fine, but I know what it's like to have a couple fail. Very few, with how many I've given away, but once in a while. So no worries there.

I'm an actor, in Off-Off Broadway theater and occasional indie or student films, trying to work up to getting paid for my time. I worked as the IT Guy in a medium-sized law firm for a long time, and the company I worked for over the last few decades collapsed in the aftermath of Covid, so I'm trying to live frugally on early retirement. I'm from the final Boomer years, closer in many ways to Gen-X if you follow that sort of thing. The last show I did was Richard III by Shakespeare (I played Lord Hastings), which closed just over a week ago, and I realized recently as I was prepping for an audition that I have done exclusively classical theater for the last few years on stage (and I'm lucky enough to be working 5 or 6 full shows a year). It's a rare position to be in! Now if only I got paid.

My favorite game is Thief: The Dark Project, though I'll admit that at this point it has aged out tech-wise and is no longer really playable as a breathtaking experience for a new audience (though the level design, audio, and concept are still brilliant). My favorite genre is mostly RPGs, but we're at a point where the tech for that kind of storytelling has become limiting. I think any kind of story flexible enough to really catch a player's full interest is now, with all the bells and whistles of today's entertainment, too hard to program to successfully engage. A really strong story set in a really thriving free world is going to be hard to push players into, when they might want to do other things instead. I screwed up a long experience with Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, for example, by getting really interested in the stories and explorations of the side quests, and by the time I came back to the main story the enemies had leveled to a point where I couldn't defeat most of them in combat. Having an enemy demon or Daedra be two levels higher than you at level 10 is a nice bracing challenge. At level 28, they may be close to invincible. I was too far in to easily start again.

Anyway, this was Bethesda's fault, really, for using scalable design for their games - I like the old style, where you start on easy encounters and then advance to hard ones, rather than having all encounters scale to your character; it's essential to game design, I believe, that you start with encounters at your level and others that are far advanced, but they don't ask me when they put these things together, alas.

Last year I had to give up playing Destiny 2 with my wee fireteam, which got me through the Pandemic years, because I've had enough theater work that I couldn't spare the time to jump in and play every day like I had been doing. And so forth. I see lots of movies when I can. Thanks for starting a nice chatty thread!

"Must agree not to be a bish about a key not working. It rarely happens, but it happens." I have never understood that one. There is a person giving you a present. For free. Out of the kindness of their hearts. If there is a problem, don't be a dick and just agree for deletion.

Well, since I am at it, hello. I started in gaming with graphic adventures and strategy games. I also like narrative-heavy RPG's, so I loved old a Bioware. There are also incredible visual novels that I love, since they rely a lot on story. Favourite game is probably Fate stay night. Best series has to be the wire, and best movie the shawkawn redemption, I am also a strong weeb, and I love animes. Code geass is probably my favourite. I have a hobby of taking numerous screenshots of games. I may take even hundreds of a single game. I don't remember how I get into steamgifts. But I won a giveaway of a 10.000 or so giveaway. Glad someone understands! I don't understand why we need to get the recipient's permission to delete a giveaway, either, since we're talking about that. SteamGifts has some strange rules about this stuff. Anyway, I just tell everyone not to enter my giveaways if they can't agree about the deletion thing.

Bioware used to be so good.

  5. My fav game is probably Dark Souls. Right now I'm really into "Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor", which I think is a "Bullet Heaven" genre? I haven't played this genre much. It is hilariously difficult at the moment, which appeals to me. A content update and balance patch is scheduled for (i think) this week. I'm a little concerned that it will undermine what is making me enjoy this game so much. I got into Steamgifts during College/Uni as a broke student. I took a break because no money for giveaways. Steamgifts is more fun imo if you can also give games away semi-regularly. I especially like it when I can give away games I've sunk a lot of time in, and they hold a special place in my heart XD.

Other things about me: I like to read nonfiction. I buy too many books. I am currently watching episode 1 of the TV show, "The Old Man" (13 minutes in), and the last movie I watched was... I forget! I'm becoming an old man ;)

Hello, I'm E.M.Y.T., living in Quebec (Canada, you know: moose, maple syrup, poutine with real cheddar etc.)
I'm an old Steamgifts.com lurker, waisting minutes here to my gambling addiction and user puzzles 😭
FPS is my favorite genre, and I'm still waiting for "No One Lives Forever" to be back on selling platforms, to have a nostalgia trip by legal means... Until then, "Apex Legends" stays my new provider of fun!

I'm from Canada but live in Europe so I'll be over here crying in the friend zone.
I didn't know there were keys that were region locked to North America though. I thought most keys that were available in the US were also available to most of Western Europe at least.

Hi. Thank you for your consideration. From Canada here. I'm an old school gamer. I don't really have a favourite type of game but I like Sports sims, Trivia, Strategy, RPG, Puzzles. Pretty much anything but rapid fire shoot-em-ups.

A question for you. Why bother with lists? You've never created white list giveaways. Is there another purpose?

Well, I've done group-only giveaways in the past, which are similar, but I just want to give real users who would benefit more from it a bigger shot at winning. Also, I used to run giveaways on Twitter which required a lot more effort to enter, so this isn't really out-of-character for me.

Name is Dream, my favourite genre of games are management simulators and rhythm games, I also like games where I can roleplay and make custom things and build to something big over time! My current favorite games are Rimworld, Genshin Impact, Animal Crossing, stuff that has a ton of replayability value. I also like making memes and being edgy kk

  5. My favorite genre is definitely roguelike because I love that I can play them somewhat absent-mindedly once I familiarize myself with the build possibilities and synergies. Hades, Dead Cells, and The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth are a few of my faves of the genre. In terms of my fave game of all time, I'll go with Celeste because of the tight and polished platformer controls, the banger soundtracks, and the simple yet endearing story. I'm not that into movies and TV, but a recent-ish fave was No One Will Save You (2023), a brilliantly horrifying alien home-invasion movie. My biggest hobby aside from gaming would be music because I find everything from music theory to modern production techniques endlessly fascinating. As for how I discovered SG, I'm not sure but I'm willing to bet on Reddit because I used to be a heavy lurker (until /u/spez's greed f-ed up all the third-party clients, that is).

Hello! The name's Doodle! (I live in the US but I was born in the Philippines)
I personally love 3d and 2d platformers (with exploration, adventure, and sometimes with some action). One of these being Pizza Tower. It's one of my favorite video games of all time because of its fun, fast-paced gameplay, and cartoony, super-expressive visuals, even though I'm not the best at the game yet. I'm still very far from 101% - ing all of the levels haha.

As for TV shows and movies, Gravity Falls has got to be one of my favorite shows of all time. I have followed the show for years ever since it was released on air back when many of its mysteries were unknown and people were still decoding all its secrets hidden in the show. I always go back to it for its funny humor and its awesome paranormal story. The Land Before Time is probably one of my favorite movies as it got me into a big obsession with dinosaurs and its story still gets me teary-eyed to this day, it kinda got oversaturated with its many straight-to-DVD sequels though. Additionally, it's probably a bit basic, but the Beatles are my favorite band of all time, with my favorite song of theirs being In My Life, it's strangely a very nostalgic song.

Drawing and animating is a hobby that will also be a full-time career after I get accepted into and later finish art college. I love creating stories with my own characters and worlds and creating visuals of those stories with my art, especially when those stories use fluid and expressive visuals through movement, which is why I love animation. It's why I wanted to get involved in it as a career too.

On the side, I also like to dabble in music (singing and playing instruments), hiking, and of course gaming.

I have never actually used VR but I am interested in playing VR one day when I can afford to buy one because it does look like a blast to play.

I guess a reason why I joined here was to win a few games and give away a few whenever I buy a bundle with dupes or games I'm disinterested in. And perhaps, when I can afford it, I can give away larger-priced unbundled games that I have enjoyed and give away those one day.

Hey, I'm fine going by Sage or Bread. This might be polarizing, but my favorite game is Dota 2. It's the only game I really keep coming back to after years and years of playing. I've tried some other MOBA's but I like the intricacy of Dota the best. But recently I've played Helldivers 2, Palworld, Baldurs Gate, Omega Strikers, V Rising, and Tekken 8. Depending on what my group of friends feel like playing any given night.

I'm a fan of all things bread, box, and owl related. I don't know how I picked these things up as obsessions. I just know I enjoy them. Boxes might be from Metal Gear. Bread is just delicious, and owls...uhhh....?? Unrelated to gaming, I'm very into working out and exercise. In the last year I've made a dedicated effort to weight loss and I'm down about 60pounds. Still overweight be about 80-100 pounds, but it takes time. The time spent doing cardio has let me pick back up watching anime. Gotta kill 45 minutes on the exercise bike / elliptical that doesn't involve hands, so no phone. I'm also trying to learn some video editing but it's hard to find time for it.

I actually found Steamgifts through Steamcompanion before it died. Or it became another website? I know the page said it was going on probable indefinite hiatus but it never seemed to come back. And now I don't see anything about giveaways on it. Makes me wonder what ever happened to whoever ran it.

Whitelisted ya. Grats on your weight loss! I'm currently working on similar goals. Are you into VR? If not, consider getting it as a way to turn gaming into exercise! I know, it's not the same level of exercise, but it's something.

I wish Helldivers 2 had an offline/lan mode.

Thanks, you're a peach. I wish you the best of luck on attaining your own weight loss goals, as well.

I'm not really interested in VR. Mostly for monetary reasons and also available space where it could be set up. However, I could fuck up some Beat Saber (Sabre?). Like if a friend already had a VR setup or a gaming place had it. Now I'm curious if this gaming bar near me has anything VR.

a bit slow to introducing myself... for reasons that will be revealed soon(TM) elsewhere(some already know why)

My favorite video game genre... depending on the day you ask its either Action-Adventure, Visual Novel, Action roguelite or JRPG. As for my favorite game of all time.... that is way to hard to answer... I have played to many games to pick just one... and my favorite might change depending on my mood. Zelda games, Super Metroid, Fire emblem games, Golden Sun are among the faves.

Favorite movies... Lord of the RIngs trilogy.
hobbies: gaming(card, board, video, doesn't matter!) and anime are the primary ones.

came to SG because back then... I had no money, took a break because I kept spending money to create GA's when I shouldn't be spending money. I came back because I got tired of looking at the copy of Pyre in my steam inventory... decided to stick around... to my wallets regret.

Hey, I'm Gigant250. If I had to pick just one genre as my favorite out of all the ones that I regularly play, I'd have to go with RPG/JRPG. One of my favorite games from this genre is Final Fantasy 9 (my first Final Fantasy game was Final Fantasy 7, the original PS1 release); the medieval fantasy setting and the characters were pretty charming.

Besides gaming, I like to read (manga, visual novels, light novels, etc.), watch stuff (movies, tv shows, etc.) and draw. I'm a freelance digital artist who mostly does character illustrations and have, on the rare occasion, messed around with pixel art. I made my current avatar (of an OC of mine) by using Aseprite.

I'd be interested in trying out VR at some point, but I can't say for sure if I'd be fully invested in it or not. I tend to avoid watching VR Let's Plays because some of them made me feel a bit nauseous years ago.

As for what brought me here, I can't recall. It's been quite a few years since then. I think I heard about it in Steam Group that I had joined at the time. After that, I forgot to keep visiting this site (possibly demotivated by my bad luck) and it wasn't until earlier this month that I decided to log back in.

  5. Hi I'm dingjun, a game programmer, an avid gamer, and a cat lover. I'm interested in many kinds of genres, including FPS, RPG, action, puzzle, sport. I'll probably pick Mario Kart Wii as my favorite game because I had dedicated too many hours drifting around corners and hurling shells at my buddies.
I like snowboarding and watching movie. Christopher Nolan's Inception is my top movie pick for giving me mind-bending fun. Tenet is fun to watch too but I would say Inception is better executed.
I'm interested in VR games and I was involved in some VR game development in the past. I feel that it's still got a ways to go, but I'm excited to see where it goes in the future.
I don't recall how I came to SteamGifts. The community vibes here are awesome, and who doesn't love the chance to score some sweet freebies every now and then? It's like a gamer's paradise!

Hmm, isn't the advertising, that you are about to make all GAs exclusive to US and Canada, a sure way to ask for folks from all the rest of the world to blacklist you?

I assume, that you are not xenophobic, but just don't want to bother with figuring out region restrictions, yet still why should we give you a chance to win our GAs, if you are not willing to put a little effort into giving us a chance to win yours?

Similarly to what you say, we can still be friends and chat nicely in discussions, but but I see no reason in making GAs for folks, who lock me out of all of their GAs.

On the other hand I see, that it's more of a thing, that you are planning to do, than a thing that you are already deeply into doing, so maybe you could think it over once again and change your mind. Cheers :)

I never (rarely) make GAs for other countries because like you said, I "don't want to bother with figuring out region restrictions." It's not xenophobia, and if you don't like it, I suggest you become an activist against region-locking. I set region restrictions based on where I buy my game keys, so it's out of my hands. You're not forced to be in this thread or on this site, and you don't have to be so ugly about it toward me, since it's not me who makes the systems with these underlying problems.

I didn't mean to attack you in any way, I was just trying to clearly state facts. I hardly can feel sorry for obviously upsetting and offending you, because I can see nothing ugly or offensive in what I've written.

On the other hand I find it quite aggressive and uncalled for, when you say:
You're not forced to be in this thread or on this site, and you don't have to be so ugly about it toward me, since it's not me who makes the systems with these underlying problems.

And the system is as it is, but most of SG members are willing to take an extra step to properly apply region locks to most of their GAs, most likely in a large part because with very little effort region restrictions for vast majority of keys can be figured out: most selling sites are clearly stating them and for bundles sensualshakti is doing excellent job listing them in discussions in Deals section.

Seeing, that you've already blacklisted me after my post, welcome to a mutual blacklist ;)

You started an argument off topic and acted like it was my fault region-locking exists. You even suggested I was breaking SG rules by having a region restriction! That's BS, and even if such a rule existed (it doesn't), it wouldn't be up to you to enforce it. Please refrain from this behavior in the future. If you don't like my rules, you don't have to take part in my threads. There are region-locking features on the site, but people ignore the region info when entering giveaways, so I'm making it harder to make that mistake and just only whitelisting people if they acknowledge my giveaways are for those regions.

I'm not surprised you noticed the blacklist so soon. You seem the type to pay attention to that. I blacklisted you because of your comments, not as a way to get even... but you do you. Just know you're being quite ugly in my thread, and if this was a better social platform, I'd be properly blocking you from further correspondence.

I don't see when he suggested you might be breaking sg rules if you'd be kind enough to point it out? I'm US based so it wouldn't affect me nor am I interested in applying, but I thought he made a good point, not sure why you jumped so hard. Looking at your recent wins, over half of them are from outside US. You could've applied rule 4 to the whitelist ga's and written there if the key is region locked for you please agree to reroll or something. Most keys wont have any restriction, it's generally just companies like capcom, bandai.

Either way it's your right to do whichever region you want, but I think it's a little much to expect others to not comment if they disagree with you or they question something. This isn't twitter also you're part of the US, which is all about free speech, so you should support that as much as you can until you lose the right to have it.

I'm preventing the whitelist from becoming wasted on people who can't accept the game. If you don't want to join, just leave me alone, because I didn't start this thread to get into an argument about my requirements, which are perfectly reasonable.

"I don't see when he suggested you might be breaking sg rules if you'd be kind enough to point it out?"
I may have misread the first part of his first post, but he was suggesting other countries should blacklist me, which is uncool:
"isn't the advertising, that you are about to make all GAs exclusive to US and Canada, a sure way to ask for folks from all the rest of the world to blacklist you?"

Why should I have to not join giveaways from other countries if I contribute to my own only? It's not my fault they don't have a region limitation.

Regardless, you're both being very rude in my thread. Blacklist me if you want, because I'm definitely blacklisting you.

So you were wrong and accused him for no reason. Yet, you are the victim? Why are you so defensive? I don't suppose you think I actually care right? If you can't handle questions, or you can't handle not answering them either, then don't blame me, you posted, people will question things. Welcome to the internet?

"It's not my fault they don't have a region limitation." That's not how that works, in fact, other countries are a lot stricter on region locks since games in their regions are likely cheaper than they are in the US. However I understand it's many times confusing and misleading. But you pleaded ignorance when someone pointed out a resource for you to get your answers, despite you still not having to change your mind or anything, you could've at least learned how it works.

I was actually trying to be kind to you and help you get a feel for region locks, and also point out that you're misjudging the other user for basically no reason since you accused him falsely. You just went straight bananas in wonderland and called people rude and played victim mode.

Join whatever giveaways you want it's your privilege as I said, I pointed out it's kinda weird of you to have 0 interest in giving back to those regions that have spent the time to do 2 minutes of research in order to make the game you won available to your region, while you're cutting them straight up, especially when around half or more of your wins are from their regions. Weird flex but ok.

PS: I blacklisted you as soon as I read your first comment, because of this attitude you got going on. I figured if you'd reply to me it wouldn't be anything of actual importance, but just ... well this behavior you just displayed.

I have no idea what you're smoking, nor do I want some. How could it have been the final word if you couldn't help yourself but reply back to me, and when did I even claim it was the last word or that you aren't allowed to reply? I just told you how it was but you're creating these scenarios in your mind that never happened like you did with the person above. Hallucinations maybe. If you need to approve comments before you get offended then don't blame me. It's a social space where anyone can comment, question, criticize, suggest, etc. Again you live in a country with free speech, you should know and respect and promote how that works. If that ideology terrifies you, I don't see why the ones who chose to participate in the system are at fault, since you don't fit in and you prefer dictatorship in your favor over it. Your problem how you interpret it but it's yet another illusion you've made up like you did above. You say you chose to ignore me, but then you reply to me with nonsense to pull me back into it with nothing relevant to the topic we were discussing. Here, I'll give you the final word since I know we're wasting space, type whatever, see if I care enough to give you another reply here since it's pointless and wouldn't change my opinion or what I stated so far regarding you, nor will anything new you say be of any relevance to do so. Enjoy?
