TRAIN OVAH! Alright everyone, congrats to the winners, and I hope you guys enjoyed the puzzles! Thanks for taking part!

For those of you still interested in the puzzles themselves:

Puzzle 1 w/ Answer Key
Puzzle 2 w/ Answer Key
Puzzle 3 w/ Answer Key

So since my last puzzle went pretty well, I thought I'd do another, since I had a chance to grab a set of bundles. The first puzzle leads to three giveaways, and a second puzzle that's a bit more... interesting, let's say, which itself leads to two giveaways and the final puzzle to the final giveaway. So, three-two-one.

All the giveaways end Saturday at Midnight (so the 23rd or 24th depending on how you want to look at it).

So, without further ado, here's the first puzzle. And... go!

Since it seems to be giving people a lot of trouble, I'll give a couple hints to the second quiz. The first 'question' isn't a question, it's a statement, and all the answers are single words.

Yeah, it had no entries and was a little over and hour to ending, so she deleted it to start a new giveaway with a different puzzle.

It'll be a nice puzzle... for the first hour (if I stick to it)

Once the hints show, it shouldn't be too hard.

The third one is actually a bit more difficult. Stuck on Q7

Stuck at 5, I've tried all the big ones and I can't get it, it could be pretty much any religion for all I know. XD

The hint will make it pretty easy to Google.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Brute force stubborness did it. :p But like I said it could be pretty much any, most of them have that thing going on. :)

Hmm... I'll give you that I did include fictional myths, so that muddies the waters more than I was thinking... But as far as real myths go, I can't think of a lot of God of Light vs. God of Dark religions where there's only one God of Light and one God of Darkness. Noting that Christians, Jews and Muslims would not refer to Lucifer/Satan as a 'god'.

That said, I figured that one would really need the hint to be easily solvable.

Similarly I could argue that the god of darkness in that religion is not a God either ( I read a bit about it on wiki, the things you do at 4 am :p).

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Possibly, I wouldn't say I know a lot about that particular religion, but I definitely saw him labelled as the 'God of Dark' in multiple sources.

Is that a reference to Q4, because I haven't actually read the series?

I plan to, or at least to watch the TV series that hopefully will be released, but I haven't yet.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Same, so annoying, why do they have to do it weird.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Because that's how we format it here, and I think it's aesthetically displeasing to do Day Month Year when you write it out (which I much prefer to the ##/##/## format, it's nicer to look at). Letters should go before numbers.

Comment has been collapsed.

"aesthetically displeasing" Oh god lol. Pretty sure most would say the opposite, especially since it's more logical, whether you're prepared to accept that or not. Most would actually write it like '25/12/15' anyway and if not, "25th of December" is much better than "December the 25th", if not easier to say, it's easier to write. I'm not here to argue though. :P

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

'The' and 'of' are unnecessary syllables. December 25th, works just fine and sounds nice. Why add junk words?

Same way active verbs are better than passive verbs.

Bump. Thank you. Solved the first puzzle. Completely stumped at the second.

It's a bit obtuse, if it seems too difficult, I'll give some extra hints to help out tomorrow night (or tonight technically, but I haven't slept yet).

Q1 i know the date, but I don't know the format (I already tried at least 15 different formats) .-.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Really? Because there are at least 6 setups for how to format it available. Are you definitely doing month day year? How about this, show me how you'd format Christmas of this year, and I'll see if I can help you out.

Q6 what do you mean by 'in order, by title', Alphabetically? i seem to be doing something wrong as all the combinations i have tried (even with the hint) are wrong. I'm sure this will turn out to be a facepalm moment

No period, but otherwise yes to that formatting. As for 'In Order', they have a specific order. Look into it.

I'm on 3rd puzzle and I'm insanely stuck on Q8 with the great castle. Hours.

This puzzle pisses me off. I have tried every order of their names I can think of and I tried the order in which they come

I'd guess you're using the wrong names. If you're using the ones that most people know them as, it's wrong.

I was stuck on that one for a while because I was including an "and" without even thinking about it. "a, b, c, and d" instead of just "a, b, c, d" felt pretty dumb when i noticed
