Contagion: Why you should give a damn

Most of you have seen the nice developer giveaway put up for Contagion on the main page. How many of you have seen the gameplay for it?
DasBoSchitt, a guy who makes Gary's Mod videos that are the adoration of a sizable portion of the internet and friend of the devs for Contagion, got the chance to check the game out while it is still in beta. They cover a number of key game designs that made me feel that this is a very promising game:

It's randomized, objective-based Left 4 Dead.
No monster closets. All enemies you will face are in the map prior to you aggroing them so killing zombies holds more weight.
Dead bodies don't despawn AND the frames don't (noticeably) suffer.
Environments are very dark, grim and generally have a nice appeal to them.
Fairly nice hit-detection and corresponding gore effects.
Multiple game modes.
PvP.
Zombies that look and act like zombies (no special zombies with crazy bodies and special attacks) and much more.

I'm fairly impressed by what was shown in the video and thought I'd pass it along.

I would just stand there, frozen in fear while my pockets couldn't hold the spaghetti anymore and I'd collapse to my knees and started sobbing. Then they all would just go home and I went back to playing with my MLP toys.

Never played DayZ, but it does look quite good, all other zombie games just plain suck, plus just the whole genre of it, isn't all that appealing, to me anyway.

A heavily modified source engine. In Left 4 Dead, zombies had to dissipate to keep the frames from suffering, they heavily optimized the engine so that bodies will stay and your frames will not suffer.

I played Zombie Panic since it was released for HL1. It's actually pretty fun. There is a Zombie Panic Source.

Not sure why you would have to pay for the new game, it looks like the same to me.

That's one of the problems I noticed. That and the zombies seem to "jump" around like they did in DayZ. Sorry, but for me a shooter needs good shooting mechanics.
