Hey guys was hoping for a bit of help. I'm a huge fan of Bladestorm and have played it on and off for years on my PS2, PS3, and soon on my PC. But I want to wait until the PC version is fixed up before getting the new remastered version of the game but I need to satiate my thirst for this genre and would like to play through the dynasty warrior series while I wait. And from what I can see I can get 4, 6, 7, and 8 (Along with some spin-offs) for PC. The problem is, I cannot find anything but 8:Xtreme Legends and 8:Empires. for purchase.

Does anyone know if there is a place I can buy 4, 6, and/or 7? Thanks for the answers in advance!

Also, I have some giveaways still running. Ending at 11:59 PM tonight! Check them out! http://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/bYOdM/bundle-games-freebies-everywhere

Is that directed at me?

Whatever I did to offend you enough to keep me out of entering your games, I don't care.

Then why did you burst into such a rage as to call me an "Ingrate"? Sounds like caring to me. If you dislike me for disliking you for your actions, blacklist me and move on. No need to stoop down to name-calling. We can all be civil here.

I believe older are Asia only, with no English translations.

7 china version has steam key, but was never sold on steam directly.

The wikis for 4, 6, and 7 all say they have global releases. Perhaps they just stopped selling them.

The console versions were. PC versions, well, those were ****ing rare, and previously Steam copies were Asia only.

Really, you want a console if you intend to play the series. Then you have access to Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, Warriors Orochi, the crossover games like Gundam and One Piece, the Devil Kings / Sengoku Basara series by Capcom, etc.

Ah. I have PS3 too. I was preferring the idea of playing it on PC since I've gotten exclusively into PC gaming in the past year and a half, but if that's what it takes perhaps I could buy them on console. A shame they seem to turn a blind eye to PC though.

Their customers were mostly on consoles. Its why they didn't release most of them on PCs.

Now go grab Sengoku Basara and have a ****ton of fun.

Good. I loved the Wii release, and the PS3 version is likely even better.

It might still have a PSN demo available.

I have one on my shelf that is the Trojan War. I keep meaning to play it, since I love DW and The Iliad.

Also Demon Chaos ;D
Underestimated game with really good mechanics but a bit bland, yet really hard, gameplay.

They do have the older one with you able to have 8 body guards join with you in combat at same time. I think it was Dynasty Warrior 3 or 4 but I think you can't buy them anymore and only way to get it now is illegally though a torrent site.

Edit it was Dynasty Warriors 4. Found my illegal copy I downloaded a long time ago and its in english

My all time favorite character is the one you mention Gan Ning. Almost cried when they ruined him with a anchor weapon in one of the later versions since I loved how used his muso mode to run slashing through the battlefield.

Yeah from what I'm seeing to acquire the older games is pirating. That's a shame. I was hoping there would at least be one site selling copies.

I wish but just like many great games like Black and White which is from EA they don't want to sell old games because they aren't major money makers even though it would be easy to still sell the games and have the mod community fix them.

Personally DW8 was the best DW i played (i played 4,5,6,7 and 8), since the story is always the same i don't think there's any need to search for the lower numbers.

In DW8 any major important new features? Stopped at 7.

I don't think there is a "new" feature that makes 8 better then 7 however it feels better because:

  1. Bigger battlefield, in 8 it's very easy to kill more than 1k troops per battle
  2. A few more chars that complement each faction, this makes the later Jin story better since wei, wu and shu will have more unique officers
  3. Lu Bu has a storyline!
  4. A new mode "ambition mode" which is quite more interesting than "conquest" mode from DW7

The story is always the same?

Well, sure. Its always based on the same story, so there's only so much variation.

I did not know that. I usually play through series of games to get all of the stories. I may just skip to 8 in this case.

More or less. The game uses the book "romance of the three kingdoms", as such the story is normally the same but told in different ways. DW8 for me is the best because it has a lot of cutscenes for the story.
The main difference between the games are the game modes, number of chars (later games have more) and the way maps are designed.
Lets think a battle like the Hu Lao gate battle, each DW will have that battle but for example in DW8 it combines the battle of shi sui gate and hu lao gate in a single battle, while in DW5 those gates would have been 2 battles with smaller maps.

Thanks for this! I did not realize that the games had the same stories. That changes my desire to try as many of the series as possible since I play series to get the stories.

Would you say DW8 is the best out of all of them?

Yes, it has a LOT of chars each with unique movesets, it has the best storyline in my opinion and it has a LOT of extra modes so that you can keep "wasting time". DW8 also runs pretty well on my crappy laptop, especially on local co-op.
Have you ever played a DW game?

I have played a much earlier one on my friend's playstation. I liked it. I will look into DW8, since at least I am able to buy that one. Thanks for all of the information =)

There was a time a few years back when you could get DW4 on Direct2Drive. It is no longer possible so dont try looking, and even if you did get it from them you would be stuck with an unactivatable piece of software. Best route is to either scour auction sites like Ebay or pirate.
