Do you use Wine?
i tested it a bit.. but the hassle of getting some games to work smoothly or just work is to much for me...so i stopped, i surf on my linux old pc and play games on my win 8 pc (which is also 4 years old now :-P)
but i do hope linux will grow poplar and all games will get supported...(positive thinking ^_^)

Yes, this is a good solution for many. Ultimately, it is important to find the best solution for us.
Yes, really hope more games to have native support. In this respect truly hope Valve to succeed with their experiment because they are the reason we have so many games now with support for Linux.

Bump. Thanks from sharing with us.
I have been using it in the past, but in most cases there were some issues here&there, crashes etc. Currently if it doesn't work natively - I spawn it in VM or (if app require more performance) boot Windows and run it there.

Yes, 3D performance is extremely crappy but it depends on solution that has been used: VirtualBox is the slowest one, app from VMware works a little bit better. I use it mostly for apps, but a couple of times i tired to run some not demanding games (those probably will run fine or better on Wine).

I don't play game on my Linux laptop, I doubt it can run any anyway, has been 9 years since I first got it. Either way I wouldn't use Wine.

I did, the non-drinker one. I guess the only reason I installed Ubuntu on that laptop about 3-4 years ago was because Windows Vista and XP were running so slow on it, very noticeable improvement after switching to Ubuntu.

my last experience with Linux is a long time ago (like 10 years or longer), and was not that positive regarding drivers and such. Windows is the perfect OS for me. it just works without a lot of configuration, most software is written for it, and it's obviously the superior OS for gaming. i like the ideology behind Linux, but it's just not that practical for a guy who wants to invest time in software and not the OS underneath.

I use Linux from the time you tried it for the first time - that is more than 10 years. And I can tell you that in terms of ease of working with the operating system - there is no particular difference - today in Linux everything happens very easily (I mean things that affect ordinary/ average home user). I even think that some things are easier :)
The problem is with some software products that are not available. The same goes for games. But this can not be changed easily and definitely not due to the number of desktop users. For example, why Adobe products have a version for Mac, but not for Linux. This is politics, not technical problems with implementation or number of users.
And of course, everyone has the right to use what it does its job for them. If you like Windows or Linux or Mac or some combination of these go ahead. I'm behind the free choice of each of us.:)
Thank you for your comment KillingArts:)

For some time, I am wondering on this matter, and decided to ask you - Linux users- and to find out what is your opinion.
So, my question to you is: Do you use Wine?
