So finally I get to spend on my first gaming rig, and I'm so excited. Finally I can play those AAA titles in ultra settings. and coming from a potato I'm shocked by the difference. Anyway just wanted to blurt it out somewhere. Here's a GA for you all. Anyway, stay safe out there!

congrats. My jealousy grows as my ancient computer (which still runs everything ok) gets more and more ancient.

I know, I've felt that haha. Just put aside any spare change and bit by bit you'll have enough for something new. It took me 3 years but I wasn't consistent haha

Sorry, I didnt want to brag because I always felt a little jealous whenever I read about someone's new pc. Anyway it's ;

Name: XMG Fusion 15
DISPLAY
15.6" Full HD IPS | 144 Hz | non-glare | 90% sRGB
PROCESSOR
Intel Core i7-9750H | 2.6 - 4.5 GHz | 6 cores / 12 threads | 12 MB cache | 45 watts
GRAPHICS
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti | 6 GB GDDR6
MEMORY
16GB
STORAGE
500GB (SSD)

Reason I went with this one specifically is because it's light, 6-7 possible 8 hour battery life and has a design that doesn't scream I'm a gaming laptop.

Thanks! I think most laptops are getting a new refresh with the new AMD chips and intel gen 10... You'll have to check reviews like Dave2D or Bob of all trades for the latest info.

Congrats! I'm in a similar boat, where it took me more than half a decade to justify upgrading from my Heroes of Might and Magic 3-machine to something that can play modern stuff and finally take advantage of the years of bundles I bought in the hopes of soon becoming a proper PC player. And instead, after getting my first-ever gaming computer this December, I've just taken to playing Tekken 7 all the time, like I was already doing on my PS4. <_< Enjoy your new virtual world(s)!

I know the feeling, I just upgraded 2 months ago. What are you most thrilled about trying out? (For me it was Doom 2016.)

Dishonored 2. This was the game that got me starting to save the money for a better rig. Currently playing the third level and I'm loving it!

Congratulations from the bottom of my heart!

Also, I would be very interested if you followed up on this half a year later! I was in a situation like yours about two years ago, and I was completely happy to play all the AAA games that I'd been eyeing hungrily, knowing that my computer wouldn't be able to handle them. However, now... I'm still happy that I am able to play all the games that I want, but I very rarely do go for AAA titles now that the novelty wore off and instead I come back to games that even my netbook can run. Knowing that I could play anything is great, but since I've had to limit myself old and/or indie games, my tastes shifted and now I legitimately enjoy them more (as a rule, there are many exceptions in both directions).

A friend of mine also shared a similar anecdote, only he doesn't play games at all now, when previously he was spending an enormous amount of time trying to overclock his PC to run games out of its league. Despite not using it, he is also very happy with the purchase of a new computer and does agree that it's refreshing to look at games as an option for entertainment as opposed to a beautiful museum piece that one can only enjoy from afar.

So, it'd be great to know how your gaming habits will change with time after the acquisition!

I love indie games. I still play them! Only now I have the option to experience more graphic intensive games. And yes, I think I can see myself growing out and not finding the thrill I'm experiencing atm, but until then, it's a high that I'm enjoying. We'll see how it goes.
In any case, this laptop should last me 5 years at least, and it can be used on other things as well (good battery which is unlike cheap gaming laptops) So I think it's worth it.

Anyways thanks!

Yeah, not trying to belittle your high—or your investment—in any way, in case my message reads like that. Seeing a new stage of game evolution is truly mind-blowing. I was just genuinely curious.

Congrats!
I know the feeling, I felt the same after saving up for quite some time and then waiting for the right moment for the best and cheapest possible component options. I immediately loaded up the most demaning game I managed to run on my old system (obvisouly on low quality) and played that again on the new system on the best quality.

It's awesome when you finish saving for something and you finally spend the money and the thing you buy turns out to be even better than you anticipated.

Enjoy that feeling!
