The devs from DwaftCorp said they've been working on towns 2 for awhile now. I guess the priority wasn't finishing the first but making the second.

Towns is a piece of shit, I can't remember the last time I was so disappointed.

The tutorials are basically non existant and the drawings look very weird, like they don't fit together.

Gnomoria for me is fucking great, I can only reccomend getting it

i dont like those consept of games, but one i tried to get the feeling of it and gave those a chance, so searched both alot, looked at reviews and comments, people likes the idea of towns more but it's such an incomplete game with lots of bugs, (not just some minor shit) and they say developement and patching is really slow, and most of all prefer gnomoria.

I bought towns back a long long time ago when it was in the Indie Royale bundle. I loved it back then. I got a free key when the Steam version came out. Played it a bit and never returned to it. I feel like the game has lost its way and I strongly dislike the path it's taking. The game is pretty much dead right now. Last time I checked, the devs barely said anything and the last patch was 4 months ago. I recommend you get Gnomoria.

Gnomoria, it's like a Dwarf Fortress for "normal people", no offence to anyone who loves Dwarf Fortress, i think it's an amazing game i just can't play it because of the UI. I tried the towns demo and after all the hype i saw around it i was very disappointed, also, if what someone above said is true, it's a very shitty move to leave the game unfinished and just move on to the sequel.

I've played them both, first with Towns for a week, then Gnomoria. I personally prefer Gnomoria, but not by much. Both are enjoyable.

I really liked the scaffold system in Towns for building multi-floored structures, and they were very easy to remove. You can do something similar with floating floors in Gnomoria, but I found Town's method a bit easier. Building in general was very similar, with not much else standing apart.

For combat, again, both were pretty fun. In Towns you can set guards and "invite" Heroes to come clear your dungeons, or even send your own guards down. I actually played for around 10 hours before I figured out how to get Heroes, and cleared a couple floors with just some basically armed townies. I haven't played with the combat in Gnomoria much, as the waves of monsters quickly overwhelmed my first 3 poorly planned towns and forced me to start over, disabling monsters until I am ready for them.

So, to sum up, I'd go with Gnomoria.

And now that I've typed all this, I see on your profile you already did. Good choice.
