So I recently bought a game.
I know the refund system is 2Hours + 1 Week upon Purchased.
I also do know it takes 2Hours Game Time for the Steam Cards to drop.

But somehow the Steam Trading Cards are dropping before I hit the 2 Hour Game Time.
I think at this point people might just refund the game before the 2 Hour if they manage to get all drop as the system is bugged that you can get all card drops from the Open/Exit Game glitch.

If a game was bought more than a week ago, it makes sense.
The point of two hours is to not drop cards if the game is refundable.

I've always got my card drops before the 2 hours mark, probably because I've never asked for a refund.

You can receive cards in first 2 hours if not make refund for last half year or year, something like this.

Steam cards don't necessarily drop after 2 hours. It mostly depends on the lenght of the game, I think. If it's a short game, you'll probably get all cards in a matter of minutes after starting it.

Yeah but the game i bought is Starpoint Gemini Warlords and I just bought it, played for a mere 18minutes and I got a drop. I could get all the Cards if i do the Exit/Open game glitch then refund the game (Which I won't since you know. Immoral)

I mean, you could probably do it with a few games but Steam would surely notice if you start doing that too frequently. It's pretty rare that I have to wait two hours for cards to drop to be honest so I don't think it's a bug or anything but yeah, it'd be easy to abuse the system. To an extent.

If the Steam Trading Cards drop before 2 Hour Game Time means that your account is an unrestricted account, means cards are eligible to drop as soon as you play the game (mine is unrestricted and i can have almost all my cards drop within 2 hours of buying the game) . However if you refund your game and if the refund is successful, your account will become a restricted account. Restricted accounts have to wait for at least 2 hours for the cards to be eligible to drop, which prevents those users that buy > mass farm > refund. In order to get your account unrestricted again you will have to spend a minimum (not sure how much) in the steam store and not refund anymore games within this period and will soon get your account unrestricted again. The cycle continues if you do another refund. Hope this helps

OH So thats the new system that they implement last 2 months ago?

I'm not sure about the exact date they implemented this but i think it was quite some time ago(maybe a year or two) not 2 months. If 2 months ago the most recent update during that time i can think of is the gifting changes, followed by the Greenlight changes

There was also a recent change about Steam Trade Cards dropping and this was the one I implied

Thats a different one that has nothing to do with card drops. Only which game is allowed to get cards.

This has been implemented for a very long time now, could be from the beginning. Probably one of your games got revoked in the past and got your account restricted so you did not know about this.

^^ Same here...and account restriction seems to be more convoluted than simply refunding a single game within the past (x)-months. I honestly have no idea how Valve determines this...but I'm sure they have some kind of special algorithm set up to detect abuse.

That is not true for many-many months. If your account is unrestricted and has no recent history of refunds, then you can drop cards from the 15th minute for most games (it can be set by the game publisher).

Hi !
For my part, the "2 hours system" you are talking about was present on very few of my games. For almost 90% of my games a card dropped every 30 min, 1h...

"I think at this point people might just refund the game before the 2 Hour if they manage to get all drop as the system is bugged that you can get all card drops from the Open/Exit Game glitch."
Yes this gltich exists, I thought that many people knew about this but apparently this is not the case.
I bought "Press X to not die" some month ago but I didn't really like it and I refund the game after completing it (1 hour) and I got 2 cards for that and they remained on my account.
So yeah this glitch work but it is better not to take advantage of the system like that.

I think the 2hrs before card drops occurred is long gone. It was the case when Valve introduced the refund option to prevent abuse, and it was this way for a few months. Now for me cards drop instantly (at least the first card) as soon as I close the game, even if I only played 5 min and the others drop while playing just like it was before the refund system existed. Not sure about restricted/unrestricted accounts, but I once refunded a game where i had all cards dropped already and my refund went through without a problem, I even kept the cards in my inventory. the same for card drops, they didn't go back to 2hrs+ before the first one drops.

They could have added some plausibility checks like, if the game was activated via key, or if the game was activated longer than 2 weeks ago cards will drop instantly. But who knows...

To sum it up, I would say the 2hrs mark for card drops has been removed again.

You can thank Valve for that. They barely ever explain thoroughly the changes they implement, they just let the users find things out themselves. And in the case they don't, well, tough luck mate!
