The game looks nice and I want to know if its a good game ,I am new at that type of games , actually never played any total war game, What I want to know is if a guy like me, that never played any game like that, would enjoy the game like a experience strategy games player does. And I also would love to know your personal experience.
Note that i never played any strategy game besides Conquest (sean o conor s games)

i dont really know what your wishing to get out of the thread, you want more info about the game? usually video reviews help, you want ppl opinions? well you will find at least 3 factions, ppl who love the game and tell you its the best, ppl who think its okay and ppl who dislike it. So idk how this should really help you. so how about you just check some videos, read some reviews and play the demo and you will benefit more from it than asking ppl for their opinion to talk you in or out to buy the game.

Experienced Strategy? Nope. The AI is horrible. :p

I recommend you go watch some gameplay of the battles, if you like those then you will TW. The campaign map is pretty secondary.

It's hard to tell. Total War series is mostly about the battles, which are played in real time.

Not really true, at all.

yes, there's the territory conquest, economy, upgrades... but other games also do that. What makes total war unique is the battle system. You can play it as a board game if you want (autoresolve battles), but that's not fun IMO.

Unique at first yes, but that doesn't mean that the Total War series are 'all about the battles.'
Even now there are many other TBS with the same battle system.

It is very nice, tough you have to like strategy. One thing i never fully understood tough was the combat... Mainly how to move your troops in formation well <.< You might have to check videos on that. You should just go watch youtube videos of it to get a good idea. As for me, i found it was entertaining ! If you end up getting it, don't hesitate to hit me up to play, it's been a while haha

Imagine the board game Risk but when you go into battles you actually control your units. It's essentially that, a turn based strategy where you take over areas, upgrade them with buildings, build units, make and break alliances and take over the map!
I loved Shogun 2, the graphics and fighting animations are gorgeous, nothing beats watching a samurai flip over an enemy and stab him through the stomach while hundreds of others fight all around them. :D
I'd definitely recommend it.

Beyond what others said, there's the demo. Try it, although it's pretty massive.

Shogun 2 was my first Total War game, and I love it. Though I played many turn based and real time strategy games before.

My favorite RTS series is the Total War series. There is a good amount of micromanagement in this game, but none of it tedious.

If you change the dificulty to easy or very easy i doubt you will lose. Just remember to do the tutorial to learn the basics of a total war game.
I have all total wars and played them both, they are some of the best strategy games around. they are also a great place to start since they have lots of dificulties so you can hone your skills in SP while being always a chalenge.

The game is a bitch for those who never tried RTS games before, and requires a lot of micro management. The battles themselves are marvellously difficult, and require a lot more strategy than the usual point and click game, even in very easy difficulties.

I personally recommend it, just don't expect the game to be a breeze, check out the tutorials, and see online battles in youtube if you want to have some more information, there are some great strategies there.

Total war is an epic franchise that has grown into one of the must haves for any gamer

I dont have shogun2, but i do have Fall of the samurai and have been playing again recently. The shogun series is very large scale compared to older total wars & we have more systems to use ingame. Try out the demos for the total war games, if you like what you see then get it!

I hated RTS until I tried Shogun 2. It got a lot better since I played and FOTS back patches some improvements. Only thing is you better have lots of saves in case any number of them get corrupted. You have to think differently from every game you played. You need lots of food to keep your economy up and upgrading takes away from your food. Upgrading beyond starter markets will actually make you poorer. Upgrading beyond the peasantry will make you bankrupt rather quickly.
Game follows RPS rules, but you can get by with spears and arrow for some time.

If you want to avoid any tedious micro, Supreme Commander has you control armies like individual units.
