I bought them last year and they're awesome so far. Dropped in price since I got them as well. If you're in the US

I think he is looking for headphones to listen to music, not for gaming.

Others have said it but

The Audio Technica M-50 is superb and probably the best headphones for $150 or less. You can find recommendations everywhere.

(It comes in two types: coiled and straight cord and I think 2 colors: white and black. There is a special edition that is silver I believe but that's extra money.)

If you want quality for a good price go to gamestop and pick up some of the PS Vita headphones. Only $20 bucks and they have the sound quality of $150 Skull Kandys. Plus a mic if you use it for your phone.

Pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff lol omg, Skullcandies' quality is shitty to begin with. Hardly something to use as a comparison. My 35 euro Creative Alpha3D sounds better and has a better frequency response graph than any of those shitty ones.

What's next? You're gonna start comparing to Beats by Dre? Hahahahahahahaha.

Also, graphs and specifications have nothing to do with opinions.. Skullcandies are bad, Beats by Dre are bad (only extra expensive and flimsy), period.

WTF is a Skullcandy? I've only heard of Audio Technica, Beyerdynamic, Sennheiser, AKG.

Read some reviews about krk kns 8400, I have them and I listen only metal and rock (I also using them for recording and gaming) and they are top notch in that price. Really nice balanced natural sounding headphones, really comfortable and with solid body

Personally, at that price, the Sennheiser HD558 or the older HD555 would probably outperform anything else, plus offer a ton of comfort. You can then remove the foam over the drivers and get them to sound like the 598/595s. If the 598s/595s are that low anywhere, they are worth getting, as well. They both use mostly the same everything, so the modded cheaper ones perform at about the same level as the more expensive ones. Some Youtube videos.

Note, if you are going to spend that much on headphones, you had best have something to max them out. Headphone amps work really well, if you don't have a really nice system to start with. I only use headphones, so I invested in an Astro Mixamp. There is a huge difference between the sound without using it and the sound when. You can obviously go cheaper, if you want.

Anyway I've been using the Audio Technica ATH-A500 since 2006 or 2007. It's a very good all rounder. I use it for games, movies and music.

Even without a dedicated sound card it still sounds awesome. They really make great cans.

i love my V-Modas..
the one thing that i can say about V-Modas is that they are indestructable.
i always tend to have cord issues with headphones.
that do alot of pulling on cords, im not the greatest at taking care of things.
the V-Modas have detachable cords, so if you wear out your cords you dont have to buy a new headset.

another thing that steered me towards buying V-Modas was their warranty.
you can have an excellent headset but sometimes things happen & they die.
V-Modas warranty is 2 years, & then after the 2 years, if something happens you have a lifetime warranty where you have 50% off your next pair if something happens.
ya, you still have to pay for a new pair but its alot better than no warranty at all after 2 years is up.

i prefer having headphones that rest over your ears rather than on your ears.
its more comfortable in my opinion.
hence why i didnt purchase the M-80s.
i have the Crossfade LP2, which is slightly less bass than the original LPs.
the M-100s look awesome, i bought mine before those came out.

this was also my 2 choices when i bought my headsets.
im glad i went V-Moda due to how i handle things.

i also looked at Sennheiser but the reason i didnt want them was b/c they mostly sell open headsets where the sound can still leak out due to the outside cup not having something to block the sound from leaking. its more of an open headset than a closed headset.
