Played the Journey Down: Chapter 1 & 2 and it made me remember how I loved playing Scooby Doo point and clicks when I was a kid.
Which are your top 3 point and click games on Steam?

I'm a big fan of games from Daedalic Entertainment, but I would not recommend "A New Beginning".

A New Beginning - Final Cut

The voice acting was awful, but the story was solid. I'm not even a fan of the genre but I still loved playing it.

Broken sword series 1, 2 and 5 games are equally good, 3&4 are worse, but still very good.
Runaway series
The cat lady
The dream machine
Tales of monkey island
Back to the future
Captain morgane

I hate daedalic games, so i will not recommend any.

Most of the best adventures games ever aren't even on steam, but Monkey Island 1+2 is a good oldie, and i don't think The Book of Unwritten Tales are bad games either.

The longest journey and Dreamfall + chapters

The Blackwell series

The Dig

Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis

Strong bad's cool game for attractive people

I have not played any of these yet and I don't think they would make it to the top of anybody's list, but they are cheap. IndieGala has a bundle right now that has some point and click games included for a minimum of $1.99. The point and click games are:

Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller (all 4 parts)
Face Noir
The Last Door
Gold Rush! Classic

If you are looking for Syberia 1 & 2 and Still Life, you can get all 3 together on Groupees right now for a minimum of 99 cents. They also have other point and click games if you are interested. You have to buy at least 3, each game has a minimum price of 33 cents at first and they get cheaper if you add more.

It is not on steam, but if you want to feel the real, first true point & click interface than I recommend Smith & Wesson. (note: try not to click on humans. At least not until you need to save yourself from Game Over)

LucasArts and Sierra classic adventure games won't disappoint you

Machinarium, Botanicula, Deponia trilogy, The Night of the Rabbit, The Dream Machine (this one is really exceptional and underrated), Lume and its sequel Lumino City (haven't tried it yet though) ... and Broken Age! (but it's not finished)

Why does it have to be Steam?

One of the best Point'n'Click adventures is Day of the Tentacle

Monkey Island series is great, too (Steam)

Sam & Max series is also fun (also Steam)

Some of my favourites that I played on steam (not in any kind of order):

  • The Longest Journey
  • Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller
  • Gray Matter
  • Broken Sword 5 - the Serpent's Curse
  • The Testament of Sherlock Holmes
  • Resonance
  • Syberia 1-2
  • Still Life 1
  • The Cat Lady
  • Sanitarium
  • Primordia
  • Blackwell Series (all 5 games)
  • The Book of Unwritten Tales

All of these are great adventure games, the original The Longest Journey is my all-time favourite, I very strongly recommend it.
