The giveaway creator may be suspended or lose the ability to create more giveaways if they keep doing it, but that's about it.
Not like anyone at the site can just make your game appear :/

That's why you can't create more than 3 giveaways before you do successful ones. If someone create fake giveaways then after 3 times he can't make anymore.
Some people just don't understand how the site works. (Especially non-English speaking ones.) Others just think the site is a joke. However, if the giver intent was clearly mischievous, suspensions have been known to be handed out.
