NT Offline is a thing of wonder. If you have a gameplan with Linux already, more power to you (and my condolences for your loss that has lead to this situation), but consider giving the tool a shot for future use. I keep a disc handy at all times and have clocked myself at 11.3 seconds from boot to crack.

Oh I will definitely dl a copy, never know when this kind of software will come in handy. Im always fixing laptops and such and sometimes the owner has forgotten the login or password.

Just a warning from experience, the USB install is really wonky (some BIOS really don't like it). Stick with a CD/DVD.

I never really liked sucking up a usb for something thats used sparingly, I've always been a cd/dvd kinda guy. To me the usb is best suited to transferring files to :)

I guess I'm used to having an overabundance of "throwaway" USB drives. A clearance store nearby got a shipment of Kingston 16GB USB drives and was selling them at $0.10 each if you bought 10 at a time... so I bought 500 of them for $50 (half the lot, actually) and have NEVER been wanting for an accessible USB drive :)
