So, if you've been following the game, one way to find all the likely pokestops and gyms in your city is by making an Ingress account, a former game made by the same developers (similar concept with real-world locations), and lookup the Ingress portals in your cities as they have carried over to Pokemon Go. These are the pokestops and gyms give or take some. There are also a couple user-created maps that work with Google Maps that users have been using to tag found pokestops/gyms that can be found over at pokemon go's subreddit.

Okay, now for my question: have any of you players in officially non-released countries found pokestops/gyms in your city or nearby towns/cities even though you did not find any on any of these map resources for locating pokestops/gyms I've just mentioned? I've heard they tend to be landmarks, parks, churches/mosques, etc public buildings basically.

I've searched my self for pokestops and gyms using these maps with no luck and I'm wondering if searching for landmarks out of town would be any luck

Thanks!

A worldwide release? They might as they did do that with Ingress, but the thing is pokestops/gyms are mainly coming from portals from Ingress, so unless you're lucky enough to have several portals in your city....There is a request feature in their support website to add more pokestops/gyms in areas you suggest, that was also in Ingress, but it's been disabled due too many requests I think? They did the same with Ingress because the backlog of requests was too large.

Well, I guess there is even less chance for me. Probably less than 50 players in my city. Dunno tho really...

I wish! My best friend is from Lahore and he is a huge, life-long pokemon fan. As you can imagine, he's loving the hell out of the game. Lucky him :/

i live in india and we have tons of pokestops and gyms in our city, my house even happens to be right in the center of 3 pokestops so i guess they might've put the locations as random temples etc.

And these pokestops are random temples? What are the majority of these pokestops/gyms you've come across?? So curious! xD

we have a temple in almost every lane , most of them are pokestops. there's a tree where people worship and even that tree is pokestop haha.

That's odd cause none of the mosques where I am are pokestops even tho in other countries mosques/churches/temples are all pokestops

that's weird i havent seen a single mosque/church as pokestop here either. seen loads of weird pokestops though. one them is a even a gate of a building. they have some weird way of selecting pokestops.

That's not entirely reliable. Whilst Pokémon Go is based upon data from Ingress it hasn't all been carried over and some has been changed. Not to mention things like the deal Niantic have made to turn Japanese McDonalds into gyms.
