Hey,

So atm I have 3x 21.5" Asus 1080P

I will be moving out in a few months so I need to sell theese 3 and buy one big monitor.

I need suggestions on which brand and type of monitor to get.

I was thinking of a Dell 27" IPS monitor I heard lots of great things about those.

Can you send me links with dell monitors or other monitors u reccomend.

Note: Website must be able to ship to London, Ontario, Canada.

As always, thank you for your help!

you dont need a huge monitor...depending how close you sit...basically you dont want to turn your head to see the sides...your eyeballs should easily see the edges without a head turn....also a good hdtv can work well

Well, 27" isnt that big. right now i have my build at my Gf's place and i have it hooked up to a 32" tv and its not that big. I think a 27" would be perfect.

Depends on what you need it for. Gaming (online action or singleplayer?), movies (normal or 3D?) or work (general or photo editing?)? Does the price matter?
If you want a 27" monitor, it should have 2560x1440 resolution as 1080p is not so great at that size. For this bigger resolution you will need a better VGA for gaming.
If you need it for work and multitasking you should consider an ultrawide 29" 21:9 ratio screen (2560x1080).

Im going to use it for gaming mostly, and alittle bit of movies. No 3D.

Price range... I wouuld prefer $600-$700.

What do you mean a better VGA?

Better VGA - better videocard, as I said bigger resolution will require a better one, there are more pixels to draw.
If you want it for gaming, what do you play mostly? Fast reaction/skill based games (fps, moba, mmo pvp) or a slow paced games (rgp, sim, single player)?
TN panel: cheap, high response time and good contrast, but lower viewing angles and limited in colors
IPS panel: better colors and viewing angles but expensive, higher response time and ghosting
MVA/PVA panel: best contrast and blacks, but high response time and ghosting, not too many models to choose from

For gaming where every milisecond counts I would say go for TN panel, with 120Hz. Most panels are limited to 60-75Hz therefore you can't go higher than 60-75 frames/second. Another plus you can use it for 3D. BenQ XL2420T has a useful pivot mode and compatible with Nvidia 3D vision.
For other games and movies (if you want to watch it from bed without adjusting the monitor positon) get an IPS monitor like Dell U2713HM.

Well, I have the Gigabyte Radeon HD 7850 2GB RAM.

As for games, I play all types. (RPG, MOBA, RTS, Racing, FPS).

Hmm, so you're reccomending TN over IPS and the other ones?

Yes, especially 120Hz one, if you like higher fps count (in case your card capable to go over 100 fps, if your fps is lower than 100 in most games, it is not really worth it, unless you plan to upgrade your vga) and you don't care much about the color correction or lower viewing angles. It's 24" but for 27" you would need a stronger videocard like HD7970 or GTX680.
BenQ XL2420T, Acer GD235 or a cheaper Asus VG248QE

So a Radeon HD 7850 won't be able to handle any 27" monitor or just the one your talking about the 120Hz monitors?

Size doesn't matter (right?) but the resolution does

Yes that correct. But he is saying if I buy a 27" monitor It is highyl reccommended I use the 2560x1440 resolution. I am just asking, Is that too much for the 7850? I wouldn't get a 27" monitor if the card cant handle it at the native resolution, I would rather get a 24" and just use it at 1920x1080 so I can run games swiftly

well, I think It's safe to say it will run games at that reasolution, but with medium - highest graphical settings. maybe even maxed out on some cases

2560x1440 has 77% more pixels on the screen than 1920x1080, that's a huge difference.
Here are some sites comparing HD7850 at different resolutions on the highest settings:
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/HD_7850_HD_7870/1.html
http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/52165-amd-radeon-hd-7870-hd-7850-review.html

As you can see, at most games there is a huge fps drop. Of course you can always lower the settings but at higher resolutions you will have to lower it even more to get the same fps for fluid play. Older games like CoD4 could run 100+ fps on a 27" screen but it will look worse than a 24" screen with higher settings.

People have been raving about the Yamakasi Catleap Q270 last time I checked about monitors.
Only way to get them is via eBay I think

Not that expensive for 27" monitor. The dell ones are around $650-$900.

Is it good for gaming?

Never heard this brand before tho. are they reliable?

It's not surprising to see Dell overcharge for a product.

I don't own one so I can't say, but the people who owned it said it's the best (27inch) monitor they've owned and the colors look amazing. This was said at a few gaming message boards when I googled the monitor so I'm assuming the users bought it for gaming.

I assume so. Never heard anyone say anything bad about them. I think I read about one guy gettine one dead pixel but he sent it back to the seller and got a new one.

Also just noticed the manufacturer's have a Amazon page. Ignore the 3 star review. It's just some guy complaining and his complaint has nothing to do with the build quality of the monitor

Also look at some youtube reviews.

Ohh yeah. Dell is well known for overpricing there products haha!

Hmm, Ill read some reviews, that would save me money since this monitor is about $350-450 whereas the dell ones were $600-900 lol.

Thank you

IPS isn't the most optimal for gaming AFAIK.

I'm not sure how correct my information is but, IPS has good color quality, but much lower response time.

Iiyama Prolite 27" monitors. There's the B2776HDS model that seems to get a lot of praise for being cheap in the 27" category. I own it myself and quite like it. But I got it cheap for 220 Euros aswell. Considering you can get it for ~250 Euros it is awesome I'd say.

Search that on ebay. the cheapest was $400, the most expensive was $500 with about $100 shipping. I would rather just buy a Dell for that price. Thanks for the help

I own a 23" DELL IPS and am satisfied with it BUT in fast games like Unreal/Quake you can see ghosting. In "modern" shooters and other games I didn't really notice any problems and can recommend it.

Just keep in mind that my Dell (its U3211H) is almost three years old and as such I'd think you can find better ones today. If you are very sensitive about refresh rate (can't play anything bellow 60FPS etc.) you should try it out first, I think that the build quality, design and OMFG AWESOME viewing angles make up for ocasional ghosts in fastest games (I managed to be a very good BF3 player with it mind you)

recommend a 24 or 27 inch dell ips if you want a grade A panel. Otherwise keep one of your asus monitors if you want a cheaper alternative
