Newish rule on steam about trade and market confirmations i just noticed.

"As part of our push to increase account security, you can no longer opt out of trade and Market confirmations. To complete a trade, trade offer, or Market listing [ Over $3 ] , you'll need to confirm that action via a Steam email sent to jacob_jub@yahoo.com."

Just an FYI. Not that big of a deal just a minor nuisance for major traders.

This is the first time I've seen it. Last time i traded something i didn't have to use email conformations.

New thing is, you can't click "I don't want to confirm". You either confirm or you don't trade.

Your only choice is whether you use mail or phone.

Everyone who's trading is now use app anyway so no changes for people who do actually trade

So if something doesn't affect you, everyone in the world is not affected by it. Not everyone has a cell phone (or the right cell phone) to use the app or maybe they don't want to give Lord Gaben their cell phone number. Also, there are automated trade bots out there that people use that will no longer be automated and probably will go offline if the runner of them doesn't want to be bothered responding to emails for trades.

Sir i see that you are just looking for something just to hate others.
OP said : "Just an FYI. Not that big of a deal just a minor nuisance for major traders."
And what i said is that most people who actually trade are using mobile apps coz that's almost mandatory and that's it. I did not said a word about the others, ofc it will affect rest of the people which do it rarely or just not as often, but people will get use to it, just like they are since last year and a half since when restricion policy begun. Please read with understand next time, cheers. Do you understand or i should draw it ? And i'm totaly out of pencil sorry.

This is not true. 50% of my trades are with people who do not use the SMA for verification and items sit in escrow until the waiting period is over.

Actually, of the three accounts I use, one doesn't have the mobile auth software because it is a shared family account. I made it to place bundle games on for card farming, and family use it to play stuff like Plants Vs Zombies, Bejeweled 3 and other games. Because it didn't have the mobile auth, I would use it for some mass trading because I didn't need to enter a code every time I was buying more orders.

Since it uses their email address, I can't do beans for trading confirmation with it now.

Yea i have similar, though mobile only here on main coz i need it for faster and safer trading, but my alt used only as storage for gifts without any confirmation, and also have an access to fiance's account which i created for here to play also Bejeweled and zuma style games also without confirmation, but well those are types of accounts where waitijng doesn't bother or change anything since you know, family and you will not cheat yourself, will not screw trade and so on. It's something annoying but can live with this, when selling things i just don't want to wait few days, though unless its lucrative enough, and definitely when i'm selling stuff on auctions there must be ready right away, not in few days. And what is about email confirmation, it's annoying as hell but some used to it already, rest will sooner or later. Some people crying out again on forums which is totaly pointless, it will help as much as 1,5 year ago when region lock hit everything. People cried, cried, and got used to coz they had to :)
And still its on listing over 3 euro items, so in term of cards... well i wish you plenty of over 3 euro cards but lets face it, it's rare, like, really rare.

I'll sum up the whole escrow security: "Because he's the hero that Steam deserves, but not the one it needs right now...and so we'll hunt him...because he can take it...because he's not a hero...he's a silent guardian, a watchful protector...the Escrow".

A lot of people who do trades eventually just caved in and installed the app or use the unofficial desktop authenticator now anyway.
Plus, to be honest, I liked the email confirmation so even if the app wouldn't be a thing, I'd still say that this is a rather normal change that shouldn't cause too much discomfort.

I'm already used to these new trading and selling rules. All is working fine now tbh.
And yes that confirmation has been around for some time now.

More importantly, is anyone perturbed that their steam account is more secure than their bank account?

all those new complicated rules and the fact that I don't want to enter a code everytime I log into steam or trade are reason why I stopped trading at all.
