9 big old akita puppies into my life and this world, oh man I keep thinking she is done. She has been at it for 12 hours and is thoroughly exhausted

Sorry to read that. Big litters have unfortunate effects on the smallest pups. The mom looks healthy and 8 is a good number.

Well it's down to 7, other weak puppy is gone but the remaining 7 are very lively. I am bad about thinking maybe I could have done something more or different. Well still happy to have 7 fuzzy babies to watch.
