Hey

So this is not my build, my cousin is from the UK and wants to build a pc apparently.

Thing is i dont know any shops around there or anything like that, plus his budget isn't that big, not sure what parts to cheap out on lol (ive only built 1 pc so far)

So his budget is $500-$750 (UK POUNDS) (I convinced him to increase his budget, so feel free to go up to about $900 pounds)

He needs on top of the actual pc and shit: Monitor, Mouse, Keyboard, Operating system.

Thanks!

and heres a good build for your price range, i would look for an nzxt 410 tempest as the case its got realy good airflow and fan space for the price pcpartpicker.com/uk/p/wbGU

That has no monitor or Kb/M which he needs, or an OS which he may need too.

Drop the 7950 to 7850 if he needs to save money, keyboard and mouse can be added on the site as well and generally OS isn't part of the "build" cost most pc builders as same with a HDD they have one lieing around from old comps

pcpartpicker.com/uk/p/wbNe

The 2500k and 7850 are beast overclockers but i would realy just save another 20-60£ to get the 7870 or 7950

( as for OS dont buy the cpu cooler yet use standard till you get some more cash then buy the better one, the one that comes with the 2500k is garbage but it works if you don't overclock)

The keyboard and mouse are also garbage, but again they can be updated at a latter date once you get more money

I'd help but I have very little knowledge on most the stuff. And The pricing is different cause I am in US.

You shouldn't "cheap out" on any parts. I'll be honest here, for £750 you'll struggle to get a good PC and a monitor, kb/m and OS.

I'd list some sites, but honestly, I'd tell him to save up more first.

I know thats what i mean. but the OS isn't necessary, He said he will be able to find his os somewhere but yeah ur from UK what can you make with that :P

Dude, that isnt really that small a budget. Im going to work on something. Not sure if I will use aria, or scan, or overclockers. Ill do it on OC and he can shop around the other two I guess. Scan and Aria usually have good deals going.

Ive only just noticed that he needs everything... Im going to start from scratch then.

So I decided to go with aria as overlookers was giving me grief using their site. This is what I came up with. Could I go lower? Yes, definitely. You could go with a non overclockable cpu, but I would never give that feature up. You could shift to AMD, but I am not sure on which of their processors are good right now. True story. I went cheap on kb/m/speakers. Even the monitor. I picked bare necessities here as they are easy to replace, by him.

I went to 750. It is the bet I could do after I had to scrap twice.

mon

kb

m

s

os

case (cheaped out here too, I always say buy a good case, it is easier to upgrade components, but in this case it is not true)

mobo

cpu

ram

gpu

hdd (picked the cheapest acceptable option. I am going to hell)

dvd (almost forgot this as I do not use them anymore)

psu

Came to £756.90 total, though there is usually a cpu/mobo combo that will save some more on top of that.

Oh and if he wants, he could up his gpu game a tad and get a bunch of games thrown in to either play or sell (to make up for the extra spent): better gpu

EDIT: hyperlink code is terrible

Hope this helps. Reply if you have questions.

Thanks, ill be checking this out.

and your def right. for approx. $10 you should get the K chip. Same for the cpu stick with intel does wonders.

Yeah i noticed the mon/keyboard/mouse, but those could be just temporary since they are cheap.

The 7870 sounds good, I have a 7850 and its working wonders so far. Gonna study this see if theres anything to tweak and whatnot. He said he might be able to find his windows 7 OS so that should shave off a few bucks to add into something else.

Fuck... accidentally the whole message. There is a lower option at aria. 3470 for 140. Aria might have the 3350P available. Those are still good processors, but they cannot OC, so I guess it depends on whether or not he will ever do that. Ignore overclockers. I realise now that their markup is even worse than it used to be. Pretty crazy actually.

Does the i5-2500k support 1600 mhz ram or only 1066/1333 mhz?

It supports it, the motherboard would more likely be the one limiting ram speed so check the specs of that first.

thanks, if the motherboard supports 1600 mhz ram will the i5-2500k limit the ram speed to 1333 mhz?

What you guys think of this. Kinda made this on the fly just to get an idea. He agreed to up his budget.

http://pcpartpicker.com/uk/p/wciI

Note: I left the cpu cooler out because he will not be doing much if any overclocking (can get this part later). I also left out keyboard/mouse so he can pick and choose what he wants.

Would it be wise to get the i5 3570k chip or just stick to 2500k since the difference isnt worth the price if your on a lower budget?

Let me know. like i said this was doing quickly just to get an idea so feel free to edit this as you please.

The 2500k is much better if you intend on overclocking as it can get higher speeds then the 3570k before it caps out, but if you dont plan on overclocking at all or very little then the 3570k would be better for you.

This vid shows what i mean https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1bet2FGKRE

Also you didnt link the build, to do that copy and paste the permalink link just above your build.

Haha i just realized that :P fixed the link.

As for the cpu. I highly doubt my cousin will be doing much overclocking, if any. Its just that the 2500k chip is cheaper than the 3570k. and he has a low budget, so not sure wat the difference in performance is but i was wondering if its worth the extra cash to switch 2500k to 3570k

For the Ram get a 1 stick of 8gb as its just as cheap as 2x4 gigs but allows for more upgrade in the future

As for the monitor a must get is an IPS panel, TN these days is just not good enough and pcpartpicker has some links to good deals on 23" ips panels for the same or less price then the one you linked there.

http://pcpartpicker.com/uk/parts/monitor/#sort=a8&r=192001080&p=1

http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/23%22+Dell+S2340L+Widescreen+IPS+Monitor+-+Black+?productId=53173

Id go with the dell option, they make some of the best IPS monitors on the market.

Everything else looks good and should do what you need it too, 7850 may not be a top tier card but you can push overclocking crazy on it and now a days with things like msi afterburner overclocking graphics cards is piss easy.

Its somewhat better now to be fair and he won't be needed more than 8 in the future at all. Might as well just go with 2x4GB dimms.

Personal choice i guess

How about this. http://pcpartpicker.com/uk/p/wg7A
Tweaked it a bit with the Dell monitor that was recommended, i chose the ram that was recommended. I downgraded OS to home premium cuz i dont think he would be using the additional features (he might even have OS already). I upgraded GPU to a 7870.
The only things that are missing are the mouse and keyboard which he will choose. (same as the case, i just put 1 in there to so I can see what the total build will come to. I did not put a CPU cooler in there because i highly doubt he will overclock much and if he does he can always get it later.
What do you think of this? thanks.

And yeah, the 2x 4gb is personal choice but he will not go above 8gigs anyways, it will be up to him if he wants he can get the 1x 8gb to free up space and what not.

Would personally go with http://pcpartpicker.com/uk/p/weYg.

It does have an IPS monitor which is a big improvment. The Mushkins ram is cheaper and just as good as the Corsair. As for the GPU, the MSI Twin Frozrs will offer better cooling. I didn't change the OS but why professional? Home premium is fine and you can put the money towards a better gpu.

I think its a really good system and should run everything you want fast, if you over clock the 7870 and get the latest amd drivers you could 50+ frames in BF3 on ultra, kicks any consoles ass that's for sure :).

Tips for the future would be looking for more fans for the case, get some good optimized ones could make everything quieter and cooler, if that becomes an issue.

Well, I would personally choose the other Dell monitor because the S series tend to be worse than the U series in general. Unless you can't afford it, go with the other monitor imo.

gtx 550 ti fpb video card is really good for the price, runs far cry 3 on ultra no issues, and every other game i've played. if you get it, be sure to get EVGA FPB though.
