I agree with previous comments, the entire Monkey Island series is a must <3 The Longest Journey can get pretty engaging too.

I know it doesn't qualify as "Great animation" since it's super old, but if you can get past the pixel art look, Day of the Tentacle is pretty fun.

Tiny Band Story is also great its adventure but it mostly plays like hidden object game.

Windosill is also another different adventure game its really short but its a great game.

Don't forget Still Life series, Gemini Rue, Post Mortem etc. Try searching adventures on steam, there's loads more.
PS: If you like Yesterday and The Next Big Thing, I guarantee you will love the Broken Sword series.
