It depends on what you are into - personally I really enjoy visiting the museums if I'm London. The British Museum and the Natural History Museum are the big draws but the V&A is often overlooked and worth a day out by itself.

Don't miss the Science Museum that is literally next to the Natural History Museum. Keep in mind that the last one is huge though and you can totally lost track of time. All have free entrance!

Stonehenge is pretty nice, went there while visiting family before. The town's around there aren't the most interesting though

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with it, but you should probably best be aware that one is actually a euphemism for 'looking for a casual homosexual coupling'...

hah oh man that is gold, imagine if life was a comedy movie, and we got to see codemana walk into the park asking a group of guys if they were also looking for beavers

Take the Docklands Light Railway from Bank to Royal Victoria, then get the cable car from there to North Greenwich. Get the boat (RB1, I think) from there back to London. Great views!
You can get off that boat where you like... Embankment pier for Trafalgar Square/Nelson's Column/The Mall/Buckingham Palace/ St James's Park/Green Park or Westminster Pier for the London Eye/Aquarium/South Bank/Houses of Parliament
If it's raining, most museums and art galleries are free.

I'm not afraid of heights. Something I've always been fairly proud of, whenever people would balk at a rollercoaster or looking out of a high rise window.
But fuck me. That cable car. There's a bump, just in the middle, at the absolute zenith. And my daughter, only 3 or 4 at the time, not giving two shits, running from one side to the other to get better views and this whole cab is rocking, and occasionally making clicking clunking noises and maybe a slight grinding noise, like, is there something stuck in the gears?
But then the decent happened and all was good and there's a wierd art thing.
But that very pinnacle. It take a lot out of you.

I saw the Queen musical 'We Will Rock You' last time I was down there and it was really good. There are usually plenty of people selling cheap unsold tickets for the nights shows around Leicester Square of an early evening - although you may end up seeing something really weird...

You should definitely try a real pint of cask brewed oak aged Ale while you're here though :-p

So I'm going to London for the first time, and I'm wondering if anyone here at SG has any recommendations on what to do there. I searched some places at Google and TripAdvisor that interest me like Hyde Park and the London Eye. But maybe there are places that I might overlook.

Edit: Thank you for the help guys!
