Click on the amount of credits and it will show dates and what you earned credits for. More than likely it was for doing stuff with older games that have current rewards since anything scanned during a reward period counts even if you earned it some time ago.

Since he said he "just joined", I'm guessing the rewards were for linking his Steam account, subscribe to the email newsletter, et al.
Rewards which I never got :(

Yeah, and it may have done the initial scan. Right after I joined I got around $5 from achievements from older games I earned months ago when it scanned all my games.

And yeah, also possible it's the sign up for the news letter and link Steam account, though I got the link Steam account one a month after I did so.

Well the summer sale had lots of popular games for the play fire rewards. I guess you have to be pretty lucky to have the games now.

I just don't get it. It looks like you can only earn rewards from specific games at specific time. Which might be ok if I owned any of the games. Do they really expect me to buy a bunch of random games just to earn a few cents back or do they expect me to already have all of them?

No, but if you bought the game anyhow it's nice to earn some money towards buying more games. A lot of that stuff is new releases that could use any means of getting their name out there and getting people to play them.

Keep in mind that offering a digital copy of a game has very little cost associated with it. So it's doubtful that they really are losing much.

Honestly, I'm betting it's going to become a form of advertisement once they have enough of a userbase and all the kinks ironed out. Playfire could indeed be quite valuable as an advertising tool because not only does it get the game's name out there, but it gets the people who own it to play the game and then bolster potential sales via word of mouth, positive reviews, etc. It also may be something to entice more devs to offer their games at GMG in the future. Right now, yeah, can't see how they aren't losing money to some degree, but I can definitely see future use so it may well be more along the lines of an investment that may not be giving them much now, but is expected to yield greater returns down the road.

They give you the credits in English pounds and then it converts to US Dollar or whatever your region is. 50 pence for steam and newsletter = 1 quid then convert it.

There's no conversion.

50 pence = 50 cents on their system.

ProTip: Don't use SAM or you will get banned on Playfire, sooner or later.

You get some credit for completing a few things when you first create your account, like linking to your Steam account and other things like that.
Then, you get credit for completing specific achievements on Steam. I'd recommend using this website to keep track of your achievements. It'll tell you whether you have achievements that can give you Playfire credits.

Seems like starting every game once gives 0.10 credits.
I didn't really care for Playfire the past months as when I registered none of the achievements I did were credited... maybe it has advanced by now... as I somehow made 2,46 apparently.

Guess I don't have to/won't do anything but maybe one day when I for some reason want to buy something from gmg I might get a decent discount for that ;-)
