Hello

I have an old rig here with a NVIDIA GT 520. The NVIDIA Control Panel allows me to use the second monitor as an extension and I can play games on both monitors on a total 2560x1024, but new games run very low fps.

Here come my questions:
Could I get higher FPS if I buy a second GT 520? How do I know if it supports SLI?

Edit: Thank you for your answers but it seems it doesnt work. My thought was that a used GT 520 is <50€ right now.

I'm not sure anyone sells that old of a card anymore. You should consider getting a newer card.

No I have a GT 610 which is basically a identically redone GT520. And im not sure so don't quote me on this but I think you can tell if a card is SLI if it has an X on it. for example GTX 660 etc.

Never go SLI/Crossfire if it's not a high-end GPU.

Buy something better instead, 760-770-970 depends on your budget. But never, even if you found another one of that card, NEVER SLI that.

You might wanna upgrade to AMD too since it has better multi-monitor support. And R7 series are pretty damn cheap.

Google says GT 520 doesn't support SLI. Either way, even if it did, I think you would be better off if instead of buying additional card, you sold the current one and bought a stronger one.

I'm impressed you are running new games at all let alone at such a high resolution. Better buy a new GPU when you can.

There's this new thing called "Internet" where you can look up your hardware specifications...
http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-520/specifications

short: GT 520 doesn't support SLI

Higher resolution means more to render and your GT 520 isn't powerfull enough to fulfill your demands. You could try to lower the graphics settings, but newer games should already run poorly.

They only name the features that's right, but compared to other cards the list is quite small. :D

In my personal experience I dislike SLi and have vowed never to do it ever again. There are too many bugs and many games don't even support it or take too long before they do. This makes going with SLi in my opinion not worth it over just getting a newer more powerful card. It seems like a good deal when you can pick up a same older card for much cheaper, but getting a newer can get you increased support with newer tech and more overall horsepower in many case. Just my opinion.
