Lulz meh potato is better than that

I think it's pretty stupid to buy a new processor when the next generation is due out on Wednesday... But that's just me. Rest looks fine.

Well, seeing as the i5 in your list is at 240... I'd say somewhere around there.

Yeah i know. If it costs anymore i cant afford it. Plus im getting this build in december so those things should be cheaper

It won't cost more. When I got my 4790K it was the same price as the generation before it. Hell, it could even be cheaper this time around. The main thing is, don't buy a Devil's Canyon processor. Get a Skylake.

Devil's Canyon? Skylake? Im not familiar with those terms. What are they.

The CPU in your build is i5-4690K from the Devil`s Canyon generation from last year. This year Intel will release the new Skylake-S generation, including i5-6600K.

+1 what Vegas82 is telling you
Intel doesn't really cut the cost on their old chips much, even when a direct replacement comes out so by December the 4690k in your basket will be about the same price it is now sadly.
Fortunately, that does mean for you there's little if any reason to buy the previous generation Devil's Canyon chip once Skylake comes out.

I'd go for a GTX970 that doesn't use the OEM fan assembly. Those things can be pretty loud. I don't remember if Asus has a dual fan 970 yet, but I know Gigabyte, MSI, and EVGA do. As long as you have good case ventilation, a dual fan GPU cooler will keep your GPU cooler and quieter.

Speaking of fans, don't forget a couple case fans to go with the one that comes with that case. It only comes with one fan. ;)

Dont i have one on my list? Im not sure about what fans to get

You only have one fan for the CPU cooler on there right now. I'd consider getting a second one for the CPU cooler and a couple more for your case.

CoolerMaster R4 fans are very reasonably priced, but can be loud without a fan control. Corsair makes some great fans, but they cost a bit more. Just remember - the faster the fan, the louder it will be (typically), so you may wish to go for a couple 120mm fans (or 140mm if the case will take them - bigger fans are quieter) at 1200-1500rpms for case fans.

Like I said, those Sickleflows are LOUD at full speed, so unless you're getting a fan controller, I'd avoid them. I use 10 of them on radiators in my rig, but I'm also running them at 1/2 speed (1000rpm). Anything above 1500rpm and they get obnoxious imho.

I'm just linking the following fan as a guideline, as I've never personally used this fan, I can't speak to its quality, but it is 120mm and 40cfm @ 1000rpm, so I can almost guarantee it'll be relatively quiet. It's also very reasonably priced, and TT is a decent brandname. Feel free to shop around, but I wouldn't go faster than 1500rpm on a 120mm fan. Then again, I'm a total freak about having a silent rig. ;)

On the topic of GPU, you can possibly shave a bit more off the price while still getting a good, quiet 970 with Gigabyte's 3 fan model. It's comparable to Asus's Strix 970, so if you're considering the Strix keep an eye on the Gigabyte one too. It was down to $280 after rebate last week I believe.

And if shaving off a little price for a comparable GPU/cooler from another brand is fine, I'd say put the money you saved on the GPU into upgrading from the case you picked (serviceable, but could use better airflow) to the 300R or 400R. I'm only pointing those out because they're the same brand and excellent cases from the same line of cases from Corsair. There are lots of good cases out there, but the 400R is particularly nice when it gets down to the $80 or less price range.

Have you checked reviews on the CX PSU models?... it seems they are not very reliable. Don't go cheap on your PSU that's the only advice I can give to your build

Forget it, "it seems that the CX750 is based on the CWT PUB-Q and not the CWT DSAII like the CX430/500/600", the CX750 is fine
You can give this a read if you want, but they only speak about the CX430/500/600 models : http://www.overclock.net/t/1431436/why-you-should-not-buy-a-corsair-cx
You can also check differences between Corsair PSUs here http://www.custompcguide.net/the-differences-between-all-corsair-power-supply-units/

Dump the thermal paste you have there and get this stuff instead.
Arctic Cooling MX-4: http://www.amazon.com/Performance-Thermal-Compound-Coolers-ORACO-MX40001-BL/dp/B0045JCFLY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1438659028&sr=8-1&keywords=arctic+cooling+mx-4
It's just a better known brand, and performs well without drying out.

Second, that Thermaltake fan you chose isn't the greatest for a heat sink fan. Its design isn't meant for static pressure which is what you would ultimately prefer when mounting on a heat sink. Besides that, both fans, the one that comes with the Hyper 212 Evo and that Thermaltake use sleeve bearings which are prone to developing vibrations. If you spare a few extra bucks, these Corsair fans are pretty high quality ball bearing fans. The ones I've listed are the quiet variety, but there is the performance ones available that are even better on airflow, but higher on noise as well.
http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-SP120-Quiet-Twin-CO-9050006-WW/dp/B007RESFR2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1438659715&sr=8-2&keywords=corsair+static+pressure+2+pack
It seems though that Amazon doesn't carry the PWM versions of those Corsair fans either. Those would be even more ideal.

The thermaltake is a secondary one recomended by Tzaar (see above posts) Or should i switch the one you just showed me with the primary one im getting?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Change em both. Don't bother with that Thermaltake fan either. Here's the thing. They will work, but aren't the best for static pressure. Besides that, now you have mismatched fans with different RPMs and different rates of airflow. On top of that, both have sleeve bearings which tend to wear grooves after awhile and then they start to vibrate and whine. Get the Corsair fans and be happy knowing they are high quality, quiet, hydraulic bearing fans that should last you for the life of that system. If not, and one or both happen to act up within the first 2 years, well, they have a 2 year warranty.

Looks good, but I think you could do better within your budget, especially if you can wait until Black Friday. Your build looks about the same as mine, but mine only cost about $1000 and that was Black Friday 2013 (the main differences being that yours has a better graphics card, mine has a better processor, and yours has a 3GB HDD while mine only has 2GB).

One more question do i need a sound card?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

http://sound-cards-review.toptenreviews.com/sound-cards-vs.-onboard-audio.html

"All motherboards on the market come with embedded sound cards, or onboard audio. The problem is that since motherboards need to be small enough to fit into your tower, they have limited space for the sound card. As such, onboard audio is not able to produce the same quality of audio as a dedicated sound card."

So you don't need one, but you'll want one if audio quality is really important to you. I don't have a dedicated sound card on mine and I've never noticed a problem with the audio.

Okay thanks

No. The onboard sound on that motherboard is actually quite good. Most motherboards nowadays have been catering to enthusiasts in all areas including sound. They've actually stepped up their games and use high end components used in a lot higher end sound cards, and have even gone so far as to isolate the traces used for sound reproduction to the edge of the board where there is little interference from other components. Some even have built in headphone amps.

A couple years ago I would have still said a firm "yes" if you asked that question then, but not now.

However, if you are an audiophile and must have the absolute best of everything, then that's up to you to decide whether you require better.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

They are nice but they are not needed, they will ad to your cost and the money could be spent else where but it also depends on what your looking to get out of it and also depends on your board the higher end boards tend to have better audio and less noise in the lines.

Though they still are not enough to beat out a sound card but it is close enough i think most would not care.I have a sound card because i want the best audio i can get or at least the best for the money i am willing to spend.I also use it for surround sound and 5.1 gaming.

For times when i can not or do not want to use the 5.1 i just use stereo head sets and select 5.1 so it mimics 5.1 in the head set and to be honest i like it better then my so called 5.1 headset lol.

If you can spare the extra $10, you may want to consider swapping that SanDisk SSD for a Samsung Evo 850. It's a slightly better drive.

Not bad though i would say if you can save a bit more i would get this ..

http://www.amazon.com/PNY-240GB-CS1111-internal-SSD7CS1111-240-RB/dp/B00TIJMF84

Samsung is the best for the price reflects it,but mostly due to speed more then anything, the one i linked to is nice budget one still plenty fast with double the space.

EVGA is a better PSU imo

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-Modular-Warranty-110-B1-0750-VR/dp/B00K85X23O/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1438665327&sr=1-1&keywords=750watt+evga+psu

and it only 5 dollars more.

Also if your not getting this stuff till december these prices may go up or down,RAM being the one that usually tends to go up and down a lot in price as not long ago 16gigs was around 60 now it back up to around 80 but not as much as it was.

You can always add more parts just so you can keep an eye on prices and also if you can have some saved by Cyber Monday that would be a great time to save and pick up some of the hardware.

True. It looks like that case doesn't have a rear exhaust fan. That may help keep some temps down since the GPU exhausts warm air back into the case. At least one top fan isn't necessary but will also help if it's there. Same with another front intake.

If this were me, I would look at Corsair AF series (the ones for airflow, not the SP series) fans for that (120mm).
