Here is the story: I played the normal campaign and 100%ed it. After that I was looking for another challange, the so called "classic" gamemode, in which you can not play Coop and you can only craft "classic" weapons from the previous games. Things such as weapon parts or blueprints can't be obtained in this gamemode and as a result are not in the "progress & unlocks" of each chapter. But what is still in there are those collectibles from the coop missions which are not blueprints or weapon parts(artifacts, text logs, circuits...). As you can't play coop, it is impossible to get those. This makes it also impossible to 100% this gamemode.

This makes me wonder ... If ANYBODY from the developer team would have played one(or just the first 4 chapters) playthrough of this gamemode, they would have noticed. There is no way they wouldn't. So it seems they put NO EFFORT WHATSOEVER into creating/testing this gamemode.

This is certainly not a "bug" or a "glitch". It's just laziness from the developers. Just in case anybody is going to say that...

We could also blame EA for their tight deadlines....

this is somehow relevant

The "EA in a nutshell" video comes to mind.

so some thing along the lines of...
EA: get the game out now.
dev: but the classic gamemode isn't complete yet.
EA: who cares, i want money in my pockets now. we could just sell a multiplayer dlc later.

I agree. Did you see that tacked on multiplayer in Dead Space 2? It was insulting that they expected people to play that.

All I took away from this is that there are things in co-op that you can't get in single player. That alone is enough to get a pass from me.

I find that annoying since I'll be stuck with single player if I get it on 360 like planned, but I do want the game. The original was one of my first 5 360 games and still one of my favourites, and 2 was better in almost every way, and worth my pre order. I wish I could have pre ordered this game as well.

to clarify things: In the normal playthrough (not new game+) are a few coop missions in which you can get some pretty nice loot. This loot is unique and can only be obtained when playing with someone else. (The door to the mission will just not open without a coop partner)

In the classic mode, coop is disabled completly. But the loot is still necessary for 100%ing the gamemode, and getting the unlocks.

Right, what kind of stuff would I miss out on without co-op?

Also, does the game gain anything from saves in previous games? I remember DS2 had a Classic Plasma Cutter for owners of the original.

Doesn't affect me, since I really don't like coop games and could care less about "100%-ing". As long as you can FINISH the story, I'm good.

Dont worry, paying 10 dollars for a dlc will get you 100% in a pinch ;)

If something is impossible to get, then you have no reason to whine about getting them. Assuming you got absolutely everything else that can be whatever the hell 100%ed means, you have succeeded in your quest of obsessive compulsion.

No, i blame developers. They could make some 1-week beta testing and like this they could find any problem. There's no reason to blame ea, since dead space 2 was released 2 years ago, they had plenty of time for everything.

EA are the publishers and therefore responsible for quality control. Visceral games work for EA after all.

OP's issue is because he did something that EA wouldn't give a damn about.

Deadspace 3 reminds me of Resident Evil 5 in the sense that it is much more action, the horror factor is almost or completely gone, and they try to introduce co op. Not trying to bash Deadspace 3, but it doesn't make sense to me that people got hyped as hell for the co op in this, yet when Resident Evil 5 did it, it was condemned.

Maybe this might seem crazy too, but as silly as it is to make things one can never unlock, is it possible that it might be fixed in a potential future update? Isn't there an add on coming to the game sometime soon?
