Why I can remove some activated (non F2P) games/gifts from my account? Check your own account, maybe you can do it too-> https://store.steampowered.com/account/

I know, but it's not only my "problem". You can check your own gamelist, I bet you can do it too...I mean the remove thing.

I've got only 2 remove, "Blacklight: Retribution" and "Villagers and Heroes", so I'd say nothing strange here.

the only thing i can remove are F2P stuff, and you mentioned that you can remove non F2P stuff...so, yeah. screenshot would still be good :)

EDIT: oh, now i see what you mean. dopefish explained it nicely, and yes, i observe that as well, though not with every single gift/guest pass game that i own, which makes the inconsistency rather weird

For me it's somewhat narrowed down to extra copies of 2/3/4-packs

I never noticed that, but now that I look into it... Well, that's strange. I have this remove option for really free games, but also for some non-free ones. It looks like every removable non-free items have been gifted or traded, not bought in Steam store or activated from a CD-key. No idea why there is such a removal link.

Hm, you're right, the "Remove" link appears for me on The Ship, Torchlight II and Don't Starve.

All three have been activated from a tradeable gift.

Maybe you could ask Steam support and keep us posted ;)

Edit: Seems only extra copies of 2/3/4 packs are affected.

It's a thing Valve put behind users suggestion, IIRC. It has to do with some games getting a "remastered" edition and being listed twice in the library. Take Deus Ex: HR for example: there are 2 versions in my library, one is the "old" version (which is not sold anymore), the other is the director's cut. The Metro series is another example. Previously you just created a category called "Obsolete", put those games in and collapsed it to make your library tidy. Now you can just remove them.
Edit: nope, looks like I'm wrong, the games I can remove are only F2P and some other game.

this does not make sense, because I can remove Uplink and Dota 2... and there are no "new" or "remastered" versions of it.. or whatever :D
Edit: Now I saw your "Edit" part D:

Yeah, I did recall wrongly :D. It looks like the removal of games from the user's library never went beyond the suggestion phase.

look a bit closer, I see that those "removable games" are activated from a tradeable gift (as TheDopefish said), but those gifts must come from a 2/3/4-pack. My Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction - Deluxe Edition, Sang-froid, Red Alert 3 and some other games which were activated from a tradeable gift cannot be removed, because they are single copy from the beginning.

i have the "Remove" phrase next to Faerie Solitaire and Poker Night at the Inventory...unless they used to be sold in 2 packs this is mostly debunked

I found this on SteamDB, while Poker Night at the Inventory does not belong to any sub
well... lord Gabe always makes his customers confusing....

Maybe you got Poker Night from an extra copy after all.

IIRC, there was a promotion with Poker Night at the Inventory 2, where you got Poker Night 1 for free - or an extra copy if you already owned the game.

Not sure I've heard about Faerie Solitaire extra copies.

The thing about the gifts may be correct though, I can remove Half-Life 2 and that one was sent as a gift to me.

But you might be on to something. I'm almost certain that the 3 games I mentioned where extra copies (from a 2/3/4-pack) that I got from trading or won here.

I also got the Remove link on

  • Talisman Digital Edition Gift
  • GoD Factory: Wingmen 4-Pack Gift
  • Space Hulk

another indicator that this applies to extra copies, because I didn't buy a pack on Steam, but activated tradeable copies that I got from someone else.

I checked my full list again, and the only non-free games that are removable from my library are coming from packs, OR from editor gift (items coming automagically to inventory without any action).
To be perfectly clear, I can't be sure that some came from packs because they were traded or gifted to me, but they all do exist as packs in the store.

I have Remove option after HL2E1.
Probably includes gifts obtained from opening packs when you own the game
