That's not forcing people to do it. Things like "To enter this giveaway, watch my video and thumbs up and comment so I can see it" aren't allowed, but if someone makes a giveaways and says "Please, check out my channel if you get the chance", more or less that's fine. I mean, the community usually freaks out at them, but we're not going to ban them for asking people to watch their video.

If I'm giving something away for free having a text self-shoutout/promotion seems fine. Particularly given that most people will ignore it anyways. If I bought a game to give away on this site, you can bet your ass I'd plug my youtube channel, or personal youtube videos from inside that game.
I think people who complain about extra text on the web page they are hoping to get free shit from bother me more.

I have no problem with this and did it myself. Why do people define every ad they don't like as spam? You went there to get something for free and saw an ad, how does that violate your tender soul? Do you think that Steam Gifts shouldn't have any ads either?

Quite a number of people on here give gifts from the profits they receive from youtube/twitch/blip/ad traffic ect. Without allowing them to post in their giveaway, they would probably not post any giveaways at all. SteamGifts would be less well off for it.

It's not a huge number btw unknown lol... I've never had any profit from giving away games. i just put these links up as a bonus for myself.
The only profit i receive is the "thank you" people post on your comments :p. And i'm happy with just that, if they ever though click on my links the only thing i gain from that is a view.

i am not bothered at all by "go look at my stuff." if it doesn't sound interesting (hint: "look at my youtube channel" is never interesting by itself) i just don't bother looking at it. it's easy enough for the people looking at the giveaway to ignore, and it could serve as an incentive for the giver to actually give stuff away.

"Don't like, don't read" should stay in the realm of retarded fanfiction authors, thank you very much. It's one of the dumbest things anyone could ever say. How do you know if you like it until you fucking read it?

I read this comment I don't like and now I can't unread it!

It would if it would force you to like/subscribe or whatever to join a group.
In this case, not at all.
