So, since Skyrim is owned by 99.9999% of people here (or should be, shame on you if you don't own it), I figured it'd be interesting to see what people's favourite mods for the game are. Useful ones, like combat overhauls and skill trees? Visual ones, like ENBs and ten thousand grass mods? Expansion-like mods, like Falskaar?

I'd appreciate it if you could recommend some of your favourite, less well known mods. I think I know all the big ones by now (I have hundreds of mods installed) so I'm really looking for those gems in the rough, ones that might have escaped notice. Even tiny things, one of my favourite mods just changes how bottles look in the game. In return, I'm willing to recommend mods based on the sort of thing you like. :P

Do you play skyrim with mods?

View Results
No, I play vanilla because I prefer It
No, I play vanilla because my pc sucks
Yes, just a few essential ones
Yes, I run as many mods as possible
No, I don't play skyrim
Potato

My install ritual for Skyrim is S.T.E.P..

Most of the mods in that list are my favorites, and if I had to play without most of them I don't think I could any more.

On top of that I run an enb and a few other mods. so ~150 mods to start, then my own choices on top of those. (Usually from LL, or other crazy mod, to change things up a bit.)

STEP was how I first started modding Skyrim. Then I introduced a lot of others that went beyond their guidelines.

I don't play Skyrim because my PC runs it at ~20 FPS on low settings.

Anyway take a look at this Toon Graphics mod. It looks interesting however it's not released yet.

Skyrim without mods would be like life without colour, my last round of skyrim was just after I watched Sword Art Online...so I did some digging added a sound track overhaul with all the SAO music then made "Kitty Toe" my Kirto Replacer.

The Back story to Kitty Toe is he basically killed Kirto becasue he didn;t like how Kirto was always messing about with other girls like Lizbeth and his own sister ect lol. So Kitty Toe killed Kirto and took everything he owned even his girl lol.

I added dual sheath redux and a few other mods grabbed Asuna as a follower and began role playing.... only 1 handed skills and no dual wielding until you master 1 handed and are level 40 no magic or archery and no shields lol.

It was great fun and when I got to the point of dual wielding well yeah OP much lol

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=436921241 he's a screen cap of Kitty Toe and Asuna in Dragons Reach lol

  1. Halo's pinup poser is a must for screenshots imo: http://mod.dysintropi.me/
  2. Modtype JP is has a great collection of custom armor sets, which are not available on the Nexus, Steam or Loverslab: http://modtype.doorblog.jp/
  3. Chaos Dragons revamps Skyrim's boring dragons by adding various attributes and skins to them, making the default dragon combat significantly more fun & challenging Best used with Dragon Combat Overhaul: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/65816/?
  4. This little mod adds a variety of non lore friendly accessories to the game (steampunk goggles, hoodies, pirate eye patches etc): http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49292/?
  5. Follower Commenter Overhaul breathes some life to your followers by adding various idle chat lines to them: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52019/?

And since I'm not sure whether I'm allowed to post LLab links I just list the name for the rest of the mods I recommend, though they are SFW.
Leah Lilith Jewelry: collection of custom earrings, rings, bracelets.

I am truly baffled as to why this mod suggestion didn't become a reality...

But anyway.. I just put the high res textures on mine, nothing else yet, haven't actually played it for quite some time, not that I don't want to, but I keep wastingspending too much time doing other stuff.

So, I'm installing mods, and I've found this one: Enhanced Blood Textures
I already have the Crimson Tide mod. Does anyone knows which one is better?

For those who bother with Alchemy and neither want to take forever nor want to kill the roleplay with an 'instant reveal all pill',
this may be a small gem: Alchemist's Compendium

If a game doesn't have posh mud crabs, then I just don't understand why you are playing the game at all.

VILJA and INIGO interaction!

Emma and I have written a large number of scenes between our characters and I think the results turned out pretty well. A massive thank you to Emma for getting this craziness to actually work! If you haven't done so already, now is a great time to give Vilja a try. After a short time together you'll be able to introduce VIlja to Inigo and they'll then start participating in conversations together on a wide variety to subjects. :)

^ both? both is good.

Maids II - Deception
AMidianBorn ( series of mods for Armors, Models and textures )
Bandolier - Bags and Pouches
Cloaks of Skyrim
A Quality World Map - With Roads
UFO - Ultimate Follower Overhaul
Scoped Bows
Enhanced Blood Textures

Sorry no links been a long time since I've played, Thou I just got a new gpu so now might be the time for a mod heavy playthrough

This is actually a very useful thread... I do own Skyrim, but haven't got to play much of it ever since I got it. First thing I wanted to do was mod it for aesthetics/vanity reasons. I'm one of those who thinks if Im gonna play an elf girl, they better look fucking good and not like... an alien. I don't really care a lot for modding gameplay (especially on a first-time play) or expansions, until I'm done with playing it for a first time. Unless its a patch to fix bugs and such.
But I found it so overwhelmingly hard to mod the game.. and even with some "first time modder" guides, was still a bit confusing, even more when I would find a nice mod...but it would require to install another mod, which also required another mod, which was potentially incompatible with other mod...blahblahblah. Was hell for me xD Despite all my research, and I'd spend more hours trying to mod the game properly (and pray it wouldn't crash), than.... playing and enjoying. It was infinitely easier to mod, say, Dragon Age games, than Skyrim!

So... if OP doesnt mind me making use of his/her thread, may I request for some essential/must-have/good visual mods out there? I try to keep things as close to lore as possible (so no anime/futuristic/etc things), and I'm looking for mods to improve both the overall atmosphere of the game (without breaking my poor laptop or crashing the game)and mainly for better character creation and/or npc looks. Again, lore-friendly if possible. I really liked how OP's character looks like tho :) very cute. As extra, I also accept some armors/items mods as long as theyre not anime-esque or make my poor girl look almost naked.
