So I got scammed, didn't check it too good and looked legit a the first sight so I played for it yet didn't get it since it was a scam. I know there won't be a option to get the money back but I want to make him pay at least so that I can warn all other people about this. Any area for this?

People are creating new steam accounts and getting into trading everyday, don't expect them to know everything about steam and its community , as long as this happens there will always be scams.

Implying you have to know every single account and all community stuff to prevent from getting scammed.

I'm not implying, it's an expression, don't take it so literally.

I need to report him via user name and the only guy with that name that is here is the original one and not the fake clone account that I was scammed from..

Original trader ID: http://www.steamgifts.com/user/Joleil

The scammer ID, warning: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198155977517

You need to report him on steam. Go to his profile, more, report user.
you can report him for impersonating somebody else. And tell the person who is impersonated, that there is a fake account. he can put that in his profile.

You can't report the scammer here if he isn't registered here. Steam aren't interested in trades outside of the trade window (like PayPal) and it looks like he has already been reported on Steamrep.

I'd tell Steam anyway in case he can get done for impersonation or anything else. And it would be at least polite to let the guy being impersonated know...

How did he saw the thread then if he isn't a registered user?

It's most likely that he has a real account he uses here to find victims, then add them with his scammer alt account.
It's rather common, 9 out of 10 scammer accounts I encounter don't have a SG profile despite their victims only having trade threads open on SG.

You don't need to be registered to see the threads. He already has one pendings impersonator report on steamrep btw (and I had him blocked already, so i guess he already scammed somebody before, not sure if it makes you feel better or worse, though).

if i were you i'd remove that link. and even though they're not on steamgifts, i don't think it's nice to keep a scammer in the steamgifts' steam group. so you might want to report on steamgifts as well anyway.

something you should know

  • the scammer is not on SteamGift, so contacting SG support does not affect much
  • if your trade involved something outside trade window (e.g. paypal transfer, CD key), Steam Support will not help you, but you can report the scammer via his/her profile
  • you can report the scammer as "impersonator" via SteamRep here: http://forums.steamrep.com/forums/impersonation/ (you will need solid evidence)
  • tell the real user that he/she has an impersonator
  • please delete those link, someone may misunderstand that the real user scammed you

also, please be careful next time

Can the impersonator be banned from SG group?

if you mean SG steam group, the answer is no, you can't ban people if your group is public
I'm not sure about SG site (edit: I mean, I dont know if you can ban someone in advance or not, the scammer hasn't registered on SG yet), sorry :p

yup, the only way (till date) to "ban" people is turning the group into private group and avoid sending invitation to strangers
not sure about future :p

They barely if ever have any visible ties to SG, they consciously avoid ever logging into SG with their scammer account and the same goes for other trading sites, not sure what that's all about but my guess is that their thought process is "if i don't have a profile, I can't be banned" thus making it a bit harder for new guys to spot the frauds.

A small addition to raventalon's post: if you got scammed for a non steam item (retail/bundle key) then steamrep will not handle your case and close your ticket after a few months when they finally get around to reviewing it, just thought i'd add that so you don't get your hopes up if this was the case.
