So, I've been looking for a keyboard to replace my old one (I kind of broke it's spacebar ^^' ), I've been looking at mechanical keyboards more, as I also write quite a lot, and those appear to be more comfortable. So, I stumbled upon the Ozone strike, wich actually struck me as a surprise, because it was the only gaming keyboard I've seen that actually had PT layout, which is nice, considering I live in Portugal, and am used to keyboards with that layout. Even though it's a nice adition, it isn't the most important thing for me, as I can learn to write with a new layout no problem.

That said, have any of you used one? Do you reccomend it? Why or why not? In your opinion, are there better alternatives for around the same price (even with a different layout)? Which? Will the questions ever end? Yes or no? They will end. Or will they? Yes. No. They have ended. No. Yes?...

Anyway, thanks in advance for the help ^^ (and sorry for any grammar or spelling mistakes I may have made, english is not my first language and I'm terribly tired at the moment ^^')

I have one and I love it :) cherry black rocks. But I know cherry blacks are not for everyone. It would be better if you could try different types of mechanical keyboards before you buy. I believe Fnac has the razer keyboard with the cherry mx blues, US layout but at least you can try the keys. Corsair have a couple of cherry mx reds, I think pcdiga has them, if you are in Lisbon or Leiria.

If you do type a lot, most people tend to say that cherry mx blacks cause a little more fatigue. Maybe cherry mx reds are ideal for you.
If you want a custom mechanical keyboard, you can get one at wasdkeyboards. They have portuguese layout and let you choose the kind of keys you want. The problem with these ones is the cost, they come from US and you pay premium to get them to Portugal, plus, there is the risk of paying import charges if your order gets stuck in customs...

Hey, thanks a lot for the input! :D

I would prefer to buy the keyboard in an actual shop, as it would be much less of a hassle to return it to warranty or something like that if anything goes wrong (portuguese mentality FTW, eh? ^^). So I will probably go to Fnac and try out some of them to get the keys' feel... By the way, is it silent? I've seen people saying it is more silent thank the 6GV2, and others saying it is quite loud...

I have the Cherry MX Blacks on my keyboard. They're the quietest out of all the switches, but they still do have a bit of noise to them. The 6GV2 has black keys also, so depending on the switches you'd get on the Ozone it would be the same or louder than the 6GV2. The black switches for me don't cause any fatigue whatsoever, but if you have small hands then they might for you.

If you want to check out all the switches, check out this link

The Ozone's switches are also Cherry MX Blacks, so I suppose the sound would be the same. Is it something like the blues (clicky) or more of a loud "thwak" (if that makes any sense)? I suppose it's more like the latter, but I'm not sure.

The ozone strike and the 6GV2 are essentially the same thing. I believe they are made by Costar and then rebranded. Thermaltake also as one just like them. The advantage of the Ozone is the Portuguese layout.

The cherry mx blues on the are the loudest, they have a clicky sound. If you want a silent one, I believe the cherry mx browns are for you. I believe the Razer Blackwidows has two versions, one with cherry blue and one with cherry brown.

I also read some reviews about the Das Keyboard, they also have a cherry blue and cherry brown and are widely considered one of the best keyboards for typing.
Anyways, when you visit Fnac I think you will be able to at least try the cherry black and blues and with luck, cherry brown.

They don't appear to be the same thing, after some online searching, it appears that the Stike and the ThermalTake Meka G1 are indeed the same, but the 6GV2 isn't, as you can probably see, the key layout is slightly different :p

I don't particularly care if it is loud, it was more of a "just to know" question ^^

But yeah, I will probably check them out at Fnac, it seems the best and safest thing to do, thanks a lot! :)

I personally prefer MX browns, haven't really gotten around to get board with blues yet. Haven't had experience with Ozone though...

Personaly I felt that Blacks were too heavy, and on other hand reds are too light. Still, need to get replacement board for my blacks as I replaced switches with reds...

I see, as I have smaller hands maybe the Blacks will be too heavy... Well, nothing better than trying them for myself! Thanks :)
