No reason to buy any. Just watch a let's play or even better the 2hours long all cutscenes video on youtube of Last of Us. OK, maybe Heavy Rain you would want to buy because of its cheap price now as it is rather old and it has a lot of choices you might want to make but there is no reason to buy The Last of Us.

Overated. It is just another case of everyone being blinded by a story and not mentioning any of the dozens of flaws and painfully average features the game has. I expect a good game when I buy a game, not a movie. Fact is the video game part of it is generic and average.

Heavy Rain, for me, it's the most challenging game in terms of focus and concentration (the game is pure QTE, but it's not as bland as in The Walking Dead). It has lots of scenes in which you're gonna be at the edge of your seat. It also has superb graphics, and the game's script is excellent. Get it, so you can know why you should be excited for Beyond: Two Souls.
Get the Director's Cut version, since it comes with the OST, the DLC (which is short, but nice if you want to show the game to some friends -you could even watch the gameplay of it-) and 3 dynamic themes for your PS3's XMB.
I still haven't got The Last of Us, though.

Definitely play uncharted? :) same studio - naughtydog. I bought ps3 as you for Last of Us, also already bought Heavy Rain, but didn't tried it yet. Now i think i'll play Uncharted series, then i'll get Beyond: Two Souls after release. Also there is Final Fantasy series, i love it, played 1-3 on my ipad, and XIII at xbox360, i want to play all of them :) FF X remastered HD coming soon and Kingdom Hearts 1.5
ps. I sold my xbox360 and i'm happy with PS3, don't miss this console, except forza and better gamepad, now thinking about second gamepad SPEEDLINK XEOX (looks same as xbox360)

For the Xbox you need to play Lost Odyssey, and then you can sell your console because it's a piece of shit. I'm planning to get one again, only for that one game and nothing else. It has no other exclusives that are worth it (sorry, Halo's not my thing), and that Live Gold fad is just ridicoulous.
For the PS3, I'd go with a few things besides The Last of Us:

Catherine is weid indeed, and it's really hard too, so take it only if you're into the Meat Boy and Dark Souls kind of difficulty. I'd rather pick it up because of the good storytelling though.
The Silent Hill HD collection is just messed up, albeit only on a technical level. It's messed up so much, that someone from the old crew of Silent Hill 2 actually posted a screenshot and asked Sony if this was really a released port or not. For instance, the fog lost its kind of well, how do I put it, smoke-like structure. It's no more a fog that always mysteriously morphs around and in front of you and creeps the shit out of you, but instead a more realistic-looking (or at least trying to be that) stale mist. Really, you should either stick with the PS2 games or their PC ports. Those weren't any bad at all either.

Yes, I know. But since that console is something I wouldn't recommend to anyone, I'd rather recommend them getting the games for any other possible platform. I thought this was kind of obvious in my first reply.

I never really followed the Console Market, but just bought a XBox and PS3. So now I need some great games, that are only available on consoles (every console except the wii u and ofc xbox one and ps4).
Already bought the Halo games and Red Dead Redemption, so i need some more. Planning on buying The Last of Us. And i already own all the zelda games and mario games, so no need to suggest them.
