Hi, I cannot join giveaways, because the sync function does not work, i tried making my profile private and back, no effects.
Can it be manually changed or something?

Have you waited for 1-2 hours and tried again? Most of the time it is some bug of Steam's API and will fix itself after some time.

If you have stuff like ESGST, try shutting that off and try again, maybe that helps

You could try setting your Steam profile to private, save it and then back to Public, that can help.
If that also doesn't help, did you try a different browser?

open task manager then click on the steam or uplay or any program you use
then click on end task close all of tasks that runs by that program

run it again as adminstator it should work

FWIW i can sync normally in chrome with ESGST extension installed, so even though there's 2 threads reporting the same, it might be an isolated incident or some kind of update on your browser, extensions or something like that

Same problem. I'm not able to enter any giveaways because of that. I tried to set the profile on private and public again and three different browsers (Firefox, Chrome and Edge). No extension used.

I just activated a game on my account just now to see if the sync would work properly. It seems to be working fine. That game no longer shows up, as expected, in the list of giveaways for me to enter.

I use Chrome, no additional/special site extensions/tools.

Sync is bugged for me too. I have my steam profile set to public, and it has been set to public for years. When I click on sync account on steamgifts, steamgifts thinks my profile is set to private.

Sometimes the sync is bugged - just wait a bit. For me, there are two bugs:

  1. It says that I don't have a puiblic profile
  2. After sync I can still see giveaways for games that I own

I get this with games that were on my wishlist before I added them to my library. To fix it, I go to Steam, pull up my wishlist, make sure the game is no longer on my wishlist (removing it if it is still there), and then closing that window/tab. After that, I return to SG and sync, again. Once I've done that, those games are hidden from me. (I only use the wishlist search function.)

im having troubles sync as well, and a few days ago, it was almost a week, luckily i was able to sync after 10th attempt that day.

I'm having problems with syncing as well since two weeks. Used to work like charme before for all these years I've been here. There are also more and more people reporting problems regarding synching, so something seems the issue here.

Try again and let me know if it works (I switched our IP addresses). I ran a test and it seems like Steam was blocking the requests to certain profiles from our servers. It seems strange the block would only apply to specific users though. I wonder if the affected users are using add-ons which sync their accounts at a higher than normal rate, causing some type of Steam limit to be reached.

Syncing is broken again.

I suspect this might be a load balancing issue rather than a user related one. In other words, the requests might end up flooding specific workers on Steam's side, thus blocking IP addresses on a worker level. This creates the strange illusion that only certain users are affected.

In other words, if N users sync at the same time, either manually or automatically, the requests while originating from the same server IP, they might be directed towards multiple backend workers and if one or more workers are flooded with more requests than allowed from a single IP address they might temporarily block it, thus preventing the syncing process from taking place.

Curious, is there a way to see if this is a player issue or an API issue by looking at communityvisibilitystate or something similar?

I haven't used the steam API, but it seems odd that the API doesn't provide a rate exceeded exception or something similar instead of a permissions error for these issues.

Edit: To clarify, I fully expect this has been looked into, I'm just curious where the limitation is so I can go file a hopeless bug/suggestion with steam.
